I may have mentioned this elsewhere, but Butler had a men's swim team but cut it in 2007 when they also cut men's lacrosse. Of the two sports, swimming is more likely to be brought back, but I don't know how likely.

Moser, I'm curious about Butler ... as they are essentially moving up from a low level Horizon league to the BE with only a small pit stop in the A-10. Will they be using the additional money on bringing the schools sports infrastructure up to par or will they be able to seriously consider re adding sports. I guess with title IX they would have to add a women's with for every mens.

i have to admit i don't know much about Butlers over all athletic Department I love Hinkle and don't want you guys to stop playing there but i hear that the school is planning on maybe building modern practice facilities and updating Hinkle.
Can you or any other Butler fans give any insight on this?

Butler is currently raising money for updates to Hinkle. We'll never move out of Hinkle, although a practice facility has been talked about among the fans. I'm not someone who's in any kind of inner-circle so I don't know if there are any plans for this type of facility. The thing to keep in mind is that Butler is located in the heart of Indianapolis in a pretty nice neighborhood so expansion is difficult (though not impossible). I know the campus master plan doesn't have any new athletic facilities, but many updates to current facilities. As for adding sports, Butler already offers more than most other Big East programs. It could happen, especially women's sports, but I doubt it would happen soon.

As for the new money, it will help the athletic department be more self-sufficient, but I don't see the money being enough for major changes. That is, at least for the next few years.

Xavier has club Lacrosse and is considering adding it as a varsity sport on both sides.

That's exactly what Marquette did over the past couple years. We aren't playing too well this year but things can only get better.

Creighton has club level lacrosse, but I haven't heard anything about moving up a level. Then again, you never know...

I have a hard time seeing Creighton adding Lacrosse. Unless it was already agreed on upon going to the Big East, have a hard time seeing Creighton wanting to adding a team sport that will have to travel by plane to other teams if they don't have to. Although they already have Morrison Stadium which would already be a nice location to play.

I was just wondering, does women's basketball make any money for making the NCAA tourney? ESPN shows all the games so I figured there is some money there.....

The interesting thing about this AAC comment is he must be referring to Women's lacrosse. After this upcoming season there will be 0 mens teams in the AAC and only 3 women's teams. So I doubt we would add Rutgers in men's just for them to leave for B1G lacrosse in 2015. But 3 Women's teams is a perfect number for us to add why would the AAC create their own lacrosse league for 3 women's teams we are far better prepared for a lacrosse conference.

A thought of mine: an ideal lacrosse situation would be to add Belarmine(ECAC) and John Hopkins(independent). Have one program add lacrosse I think the best option would be Creighton and then get the University of Denver to join lacrosse only or even non basketball as they are pretty strong in non revs. They currently play lacrosse in the ECAC(Eastern Collegiate Athletics Conference) many of our teams are either the same distance or closer and DU is always a top ten in lacrosse. The ECAC Lacrosse league will likely fall apart as with Ohio State and Michigan joining the new B1G lacrosse league they wont have enough teams for an AQ in the tournament. With adding Denver you could also add Air Force(also ECAC) a top 20 team most years. This gives you an absolutely stellar Lacrosse conference one that gives you a 10 team very strong lacrosse conference. Even if you couldn't get Denver or John Hopkins thats still a good 8 team conference which in lacrosse is a big conference. I think geographically this would still make since these teams are already traveling these distances so its not a big stretch.
