Dabo Swiney just got a 10 year, $93 million extension from Clemson. That's crazy.

this is why I"m in favor of paying student athletes. they call it amateur sports and yet the head coach makes $9M per year?

Dabo is being paid on the same levels as Nick Saban and Bill Belichick (among others like Sean Payton, Pete Carroll and Jon Gruden). Given his success and exposure for the school, it's hard to say that he hasn't earned it.

Norlander: "Here's an all-timer: In 2017, then-Texas A&M asst Amir Abdur-Rahim met w/ Dawkins, Blazer + undercover agent to discuss paying then-A&M player Robert Williams. A pair of shoes were then allegedly purchased @ Cosmo in Vegas, stuffed with $11,000 and FedEx'ed to Williams."

The real disadvantage:
No penalty for corruption by football schools. Football apologists laughing off shit like what was tweeted up above, pundits laughing about the SEC cheating. UNC no penalties for 30+ years of proven corruption. And whatever the f--- NC State, Miami of Fla, Oregon, etc, have been doing. Under this system, it is an absolute fuckin miracle that the Big East has had so much success.

So, we get miles and miles of discussion about the Friars or any of us stumbling here and there. Meanwhile Cooley (really all 10 of us) runs a clean program but has to compete against rampant cheating. Jay Wright, what he's built at Villanova, holy shit, the guy is amazing.

Texas A&M beat Providence in 2018 in the NCAA's in a game that was within 3 with under a minute, led by the Aggies' Robert Williams.

Tweet from yesterday:

One of the most enjoyable aspects of our conference, as part of that like-minded identity, is that none of our schools will ever sacrifice its institutional mission in the name of winning basketball games. In the old Big East, you had UConn, Syracuse and Louisville all encounter major program violations in the pursuit of national success. We now have a program - Villanova - who has won multiple titles winning the right way (and make no mistake, this undoubtedly frustrates and angers many blue bloods who do not hold the same idealism). In the past ten years, we have seen programs like Baylor, Penn State, Miami, UNC and Louisville all nationally disgrace their names and academic brands for winning athletic contests at all costs. What is clear, after SMU, is that the NCAA will never again hand down the death penalty - despite repeated examples that are well-deserved.

We will not win every contest against programs that break the rules; but, with past and future performance - on the days that we do defeat programs that lower themselves to that level, it makes success feel that much more enjoyable and fulfilling.

Ahh the nobility of it all. Nice speech GW11. Evidently you have a pet mouse (with cheese) in your pocket. We!
Best that you speak for yourself, or maybe even for Marquette. It is a big risk to speak for everyone in the conference.
Not all are as noble as you.

While not an "at all costs" guy, winning "at most costs" is acceptable in my book. There's no glory nor nobility in being the bottom of the barrel.
