Who say you?

Postby Novachap » Mon May 04, 2020 4:09 pm

Tonight at 7 p.m. on Twitch is a simulated NBA 2K game between Nova 2018 and Nova 2016. There has been a lot of trash-talking, of course all in jest, between the two teams. Interesting this is going to charity. So, who say you?

I think the prevailing thought is that '18 was the more deep and talented team. 5 pros in their college primes in the top 6 of rotation. '16 had 4 counting Bridges and Brunson but they both were just kids then.

Brunson '18 better than Arch (but that would be a lot of fun to see). Physically Arch could handle Jalen better than most.
Donte D. better than '16 Phil B.(although Phil was lights out in '16.) But DD in '18 was spectacular.
Bridges and Hart are a prob. a push. Hart was really good on both sides of the ball, as was MB. Maybe slight edge to MB.
Jenkins would have a tough time guarding Paschall, and I don't think EP would have a tough time guarding Kris.
Chef probably a bit better than Omari and could guard him out on the perimeter.

'18 by six 78-72.

Yeah, many feel same way.... in an ironic twist, I see Paschal hitting the game winner over Jenkins at the buzzer!

I’ll go with 2016. At least they won the Big East title.
Nebraska by birth, Creighton by choice.

I see '18 as the better team, and will probably win in a computer simulation. I believe Josh Hart was asked this once, and he thought the '16 team could take the '18 team, and I think I agree. The '16 team was grittier, more emotional, and I think in a 1 and done situation could pull it off with guts if pride was on the line.

I'd take 2018. Spellman I think would have been a huge matchup mismatch vs Ochefu.

also looking at the numbers- Nova in 16 didn't guard the 3 as well as Nova in 18. And Nova in 18 was more reliant on the 3 ball than Nova was in '16.

I'd take 2018 79-70.

I saw '16 won 57-55.

Brunson had 21 points in his '18 version, but his '16 version hit the game clinching free throw.

love his quote-"It's Jalen Brunson time, regardless," he said during the broadcast.

yeah, 2016 in OT... not sure how realistic 2018 being held to less than 60 in OT!!! The chat between the players was hysterical. They raised $25K for a charity in Philly.

I get that the '16 team had better defense (mainly because the '18 team had to play D less...anytime an opponent would start a run they'd just start raining buckets). But yeah, a score in the 50's is way too low.

I like the '85 team calling next! They'll have to do a 'final four' bracket with the '71, '85, '16, and '18 teams (or maybe the '09 team gets a play-in game vs. '71?)
