Provider: Cox Communications
Package Tier: Standard = Tier 2 (like ESPN); HD =
Location: Omaha
With Other Sports Channels: Not Really.
The lineups for channels on Cox is kind of all over the place, in some ways. For example, in standard definition you have channels like this:
28 Lifetime
29 Spike TV
30 ESPN2
31 ESPN
32 USA
33 CNN
34 NICK
35 MTV
36 TNT
37 Discovery
38 A&#
39 BET
40 ABC Family
41 E!
42 CNBC
43 Weather
44 HLN
45 AMC
46 Comedy
47 Fox Sports Midwest
48 Disney
49 FX
50 VH1
51 Cartoon
53 SyFy
54 Food
55 TCM
56 Travel
58 Fox News
59 HGTV
60 History
62 Bravo
63 Golf
64 CMT
65 TV Land
66 MSNBC
67 Animal
70 Telemundo
74 Game Show
75 National Geographic
78 Fox Sports 1
69 TVGN
80 Big Ten Network
81 Big Ten Network
82 Big Ten Network
85 Hallmark.
So the "sports channels" aren't really together in standard def. They are surrounded by lots of other things that don't always go together or make sense either. FS1 is right up there with "Telemundo" and Game Show Network, but not far from the Big Ten Network channels -- but very far from ESPN/ESPN2.
Cox then also offers a "Sports & Information Pak" with channels between 200 and 234. In that area there is a big block of sports channels, including:
216 Fox Sports 2
217 PAC-12
218 NFL Red Zone
219 National Geographic WILD
220 ESPNU
221 ESPNews
222 ESPN Classic
223 NFL
224 NBA
226 Tennis
227 MLB
228 FXX
229 NHL
230 Outdoor
231 NBC Sports
234 CBS College Sports
While there are a lot of sports specific channels in that block, FS1 is nowhere near any of those, either (although FS2 IS in that block).
In Omaha, the HD channels are grouped similarly (just by adding 1000 to the channel identifier -- so FS1 in HD is 1078 instead of 78 for standard def).
So, yeah -- in Omaha it's kind of buried and hidden far away from most other sports channels. What's maybe a bit of a saving grace here is that it's close to the Big Ten Network channels. With the dumpster fire university down in Lincoln being in the Big Ten, many people who are looking for that stuff will likely find FS1.
