That'd require beating 2 top 5 teams and Northwestern in Chicago... so yeah I guess there is a chance.

Alabama hasn't been playing well at all. Purdue has been gettable at times- to include Rutgers beating them earlier in the year. And Northwestern has lost 3 of their last 4 games.

And that's assuming that Providence is ahead of Pittsburgh as well- could see that either way really.

You're describing a situation in which 3 underdogs, all playing 2nd night in a row against 3 rested teams, winning straight up, while assuming Lunardi's placement is more accurate. Sure, maybe Pitt was ahead, but maybe Auburn or WVU were behind. Providence wasn't likely to be Dayton bound before today, and they're even less likely despite losing to uconn. If they end up in Dayton, the committee probably had them lower than the bracketologists to begin with.

I wouldn't even mind getting sent to Dayton. It's a very winnable game.

then again- if you look at Bracketville- PC going into today was the 5th team with a bye. 4 teams within 6 spots of them won today.

It'll be interesting to see the rest of the results tonight and the update tomorrow morning to see just how close he thinks Providence is.

the 5 Q1 wins help them out a lot. Plus 3 wins in Michigan St(31), Illinois(33), and Seton Hall(78 road) that were right near q1 level. I think that's probably carrying them.

NC State getting crushed helps.

Does Marquette have a shot at 2 seed?

Possibly if they can beat UConn.

Arizona St beats USC. Think Providence is rooting big time for Arizona tomorrow against them. (and really UCLA against Oregon, the last thing Providence wants is a Oregon/Arizona St final).

I think they'd need to beat the Xavier/Creighton winner too.

Maybe, but then again, I don't think they would get passed back up by Baylor(who they beat 96-70). And I don't think Xavier or especially Creighton would pass them up. Don't think Tennessee has enough runway to pass them up. Guess maybe Indiana or Iowa St? I think Marquette would be fairly safe.
