From Jeff Goodman:

"Been told by ESPN research guru @TheRyanFeldman that there were an average of 42 fouls in all games yesterday. Up about 6-7 last year."

That would represent an increase of about 14-17% more fouls called per game.

Our game was so boring last night because of the new rule. There was a significant lack of energy in the arena because of how slow it was.
Coach Al Mcguire:
"I like seashells and balloons, ribbons and medals, bare feet and wet grass."
"When I'm losing, they call me nuts. When I'm winning, they call me eccentric."
"Queen of victory, pray for us."

I think this rule is revenge for that Butler-Uconn rock fight championship game a couple years ago.

Since this thread is about the impact of the new rules on the schools, I'll comment on Creighton.

I think the rules are going to have a negative effect on us, but for a different reason than most schools. We don't generally play in your shorts, overly physical defense, so our defense won't be as negatively impacted as many. Where Creighton will suffer, strangely enough, is on the offensive end. Creighton likes to play somewhere between fast and very fast and score a lot. Offensive flow is more important than it may be in pick and roll systems and every foul call really slows up the action. In the game Friday, Creighton struggled in the periods where there were a lot of fouls and no flow, yet when there were not a lot of foul calls, Creighton had a pair of 16-0 runs.
