If we go 3-1 with PC and Marquette winning- that's a great night- no matter what DePaul does. It's not like we go 3-1 with DePaul losing- and we act like it's not a very good night.

Any combination of 3-1 should be seen as damn good for the BE. I was referring to the 2-2 possibility. If Depual & CU win or CU & MU or CU & PC I think that would still be a good night.

For us to go 2-2- 1 would be Xavier. That would be 1 win from DePaul, Marquette, and Providence....

I'm sorry- but I'd rather Xavier win and DePaul lose- than vice versa.

My bad replace CU with X and you will see I agree with you there:

If Depual & X win or X & MU or X & PC

I just don't see 2-2 as being viewed as a good night. Realistically speaking that would mean that either Providence lost to Maryland or Marquette lost to Arizona St. I think a Providence loss and folks are like well they got lucky vs Vandy and Maryland showed them. A Marquette loss- and that just compounds their problems with their start- would be 3-2 with 2 of their wins a 7 point win over Southern and the other a 5 point win over New Hampshire- and an ugly loss to Ohio St. I don't think we want/need either one of those to happen!

Glass half empty. It also could mean that Depaul won and the biggest win on the table tonight is Wichita St. The worse loss on the table tonight is Abiline. I'm saying those two wins would make it an OK night. But there's no way if the BE supposed 10th best team beats a top 12 team that it makes for a bad night for the league.

Providence is undefeated so let's not make it seem like tonight means much for their season or the BE one way or the other. The Hoyas received a few votes after losing to NE. UNC is still ranked after losing to Belmont. As for Arizona St., right now they are a 6 pt fav over MU, so no way to spin that as a bad loss possibility unless they look like they did against OSU again. You need to pack up those violins and break out the pom poms dude. The way you are so critical of the league and even your "own" team the hoyas (Joshua Smith), I'm really starting to think u're an ACC mole or worse yet an AAC hanger-on.

Agree. If the league wants to sustain itself as a power league, these are the opponents it has to prove it's better than in November and December.

Please, please, please beat Wichita State tonight. If you do, I promise to never say anything critical of Purnell or Depaul basketball on this board ever!

WSU fans are the absolute worst in all of college sports. Loud and horrible to be around. One of the best things about joining the BIG EAST for Creighton fans, besides getting to play better teams regularly, was to get away from Wichita State fans.

I assume you've never been near Syracuse fans....

From Brian Snow:

"The SEC struggles in the non-conference have been astounding so far this season"

This is how we would know if the BE was really doing as poorly as a few posters keep trying to make it seem. The only place I see comments/reports like this about the BE is here at HLOH, even after a 5-0 weekend. I could only imagine that 1979 was split like this, fans who believed in the potential of the NEW BE & those that believed going out on our own is a fear-filled landmine run! Both are legit possibilities but I expect to be on the side that wins out....again.

HoosierPal wrote:Yeah, this is OT, but the tourney to watch is in Maui. For the first time ever, all Maui teams enter the tournament undefeated. Dayton 4 and 0. Gonzaga 4 and 0. Baylor 4 and 0. So is Syracuse. Minnesota is 5 and 0. Cal is 4 and 0 and Arkansas is 3 and 0. Pity the poor hosts, Chaminade Silverswords.

Creighton has Cal in Omaha in a few weeks, so I'd like them to keep on winning as much as possible. They did manage to beat Arkansas in the first round earlier today as the SEC takes yet another loss.

As to tonight, 3 wins would be a great evening. Two wins would be pretty good, especially if the non X win was either Providence (it could spring board them into the polls by winning their tourney) or Depaul (if the team widely predicted to finish last in the BE knocks off a ranked team, that would really send a message).

5-0 weekend with 2 1 point wins and a win against a 0-4 team. Only 1 win that registered on the national scale by any means- the Georgetown win against VCU.

A 5-0 day on Thanksgiving would mean 100 times more than the 5-0 weekend we just had
Villanova/USC
Butler/Wash St
Marquette/CS Fullerton
Xavier/Iowa
Creighton/Arizona St
