It's inevitable that Georgetown and Marquette will recover sooner or later.

On the same token, it irks me when people say Nova's success is the direct result of the obe breaking up. No, Nova probably would have still ruled the obe from 2014-present. 48-6 over 3 year span? No, but still would've been the best team in the conference getting #1 and #2 tourney seeds.

At the same time they fail to realize that the biggest brand in the Big East, Georgetown, hasn't contributed anything since realignment.

It wasn't that long ago that the Hoyas were a consistent top 10 team and with Ewing steering the ship they are poised to be back where they belong.

2 positives about UConn's move that haven't been mentioned yet i don't think:

1.) Hurley's addition will give the league another charismatic coach, that was a trademark of the old league, to go along with Ed Cooley, and to a lesser extent, kevin willard, patrick ewing, and jay wright. Hurley seems to be in the rollie massimino, lou carnessecca mold.

2.) UConn's primary color is blue. vitally important to the leagues integrity and mission

I bet Bobby Hurley is kicking himself for not taking the St. John's job now.

I'm pretty sure the Hurley brothers have said they didn't want to coach in the same conference.

And while I think Dan will get UConn back on track, his sideline antics drive many crazy; nothing at all like Louie or Rollie.

I do get the feeling that Dan Hurley will be an outspoken advocate/PR guy for the conference much like Wright, Cooley, and Williard.

Crazy AAAAC fans are arguing that the increase in tickets sales is due to UConn being a NCAA tournament team this season instead of the news that the are joining the Big East.

The echo chamber that is AAC fandom is lol funny

I was involved in that argument. I just need to stop posting over there lol!

To summarize...a Houston fan claims that he thinks the increased ticket sales (over 3,000 season tickets were renewed after the Big East announcement for the men and women) is really smoke and mirrors, and that Uconn fans were going to come back in droves this year because the men will likely be a tournament team. Even as a UConn supporter...this is a borderline tournament at best. Unless everything breaks right for them this year.

I argued that it had EVERYTHING to do with Uconn going back to the Big East. Uconn modified their season ticket system this year, requiring a seat donation (similar to a PSL in football) to keep your seats this year and every year going forward. These were especially expensive in the lower bowl at both the XL Center and Gampel. A lot of fans had flat out said they were giving up their season tickets after 20 + years because of the increased cost, and because people don't want to come see UConn play the Tulane's, Tulsa's and East Carolina's of the world.

Suddenly the talks are revealed between the Big East and Uconn, and within a week we have the huge increase of ticket sales. Suddenly people didn't care about the seat donations.

To put it mildly, AAC fans are not the brightest. And boy are they bitter!

The vibe I get from UConn fans is that they’ll gladly wear the black hat in the Big East. Sort of similar to Gregg Marshall and Wichita State back in the Valley says. Should make things interesting.
Nebraska by birth, Creighton by choice.

Kayako...rub some liniment and pork fat on that thin skin of yourn, toughen up son. And have a big heart...Nova's earned it. Don't fall into the old trap of defending against "what if scenarios", as they are no win situations and we all are talkin' shit in hindsight.
Did Nova benefit from the secession of the C7? Yes. a) back to a Basketball 1st BE, b) New TV contract-all games televised, c) More TV money, d) less travel, e) better sleep at nights...think about it and you'll come up with a couple more benefits (RS, BET, & Natty Championships, etc.). AND you all get the privilege of playing Creighton twice a year (after years of dodging us). Heh, heh...it's all good!

Woulda, coulda, shoulda "still ruled the obe"? Who knows - who cares. In the real world you've become a worldbeater program and that's what counts. Leave the what ifs to the losers...your team/program is a winner!
Nova was already a top half team. Results have proven that of all the former teams Prov and Seton Hall have shown the greatest results from the change, from mid-bottom tier to top half of the new configuration. Congrats to them.

As for the hoyers...may they take a bus to Anacostia and never be seen nor heard from again. Recover my hiney...they deserve to be a bottom feeder, for DePaul numbers of years...
