NBE, MSG and Fox aren't going to adopt a format geared toward producing better chances for top 2 regular season finishes. MSG has seats to sell, Fox has viewers to attract and NBE has NCAA at large spots to win. MWC and WCC do what they do because it best suits their interest, I feel confident NBE conference tourney brackets will look like what I outlined...far from prefect but that's 1 of the reasons NBE will expand. Other possibility would be game would not be played at MSG but at campus site on Tue night, highly unlikely because of the 3 interests I outlined above, campus play in games don't do anything to help your credibility in the market (it equates to small time). And frankly, 1 game 1st day in NYC is bad enough but I think will be a 1 year occurance and no one will notice.

If we had 12 teams, the top 4 could get byes. With 10 however, it's got to be the bottom 4 teams play the first night and those winners and the rest play the next day.

This works perfectly in my opinion. Best teams get the advantage of playing a team that had to play the day before. Worst 4 teams are given a disadvantage.

and a 12 team bracket looks the same but you add an afternoon session, satisfying MSG and Fox, bottom eight teams play day 1, top 4 teams get a bye and play opponent coming off 1 day rest.

Thanks for everyone's input. Money notwithstanding, it sounds like flying into Newark is the best option. For a tourist, I assume it would be best to stay somewhere in Manhattan near MSG is possible right?

There is nothing more American than Manhattan...choices abound but getting to/from and staying for a few days is not cheap. But back to choices...of course there are expensive hotels (more than you can shake a stick at) but there are plenty of business traveler hotels (down the scale) available. I'm a Marriott Rewards member and I've stayed at both the Fairfield Suites 37th, and the Courtyard by Marriott 5th Ave and both are just minutes away (by foot) to MSG. Great neighborhood with plenty of eateries, grocery stores, coffee shops also minutes away from Empire State building, Grand Central Station...I'm sure Hilton loyalty program etc have like locations...it's Manhattan!!

Each school is responsible for finding their own anchor hotel for the Big East tournament. I will be interested to see how quickly that information leaks out and what that does to availability. Of the seven returning schools, which hotels did your teams/fans stay at?

Could be wrong but I heard a Creighton spokesman say that the big east schools do not sponsor a hotel because it was too expensive to secure a large block of rooms so everyone finds something on their own.

AD said that bottom 4 teams would play on Wednesday with quarterfinals on Thursday and the final on Saturday night.
