That will be a great setup. Part of me would like a Sunday championship at noon, but I'm sure the coaches would like to have it done a day earlier.

Yes, he's been quoted saying he would be calling the games.

If tournament attendance at MSG isn't as good as expected, does that increase the likelihood of adding teams to the Big East? Does it influence at all who the schools added would be?

reading some opinion post BE meetings it seems like some discussion around cost of attendance at BE tourney in NYC. Really? News alert-NYC is expensive! 2nd most expensive city I've ever traveled to in Western world, London ranking 1st. You can reduce the ticket price but NYC is what it is. Expansion? absolutely and it better happen quickly.

With a 10 team field the 1st night is going to be a challenge, you might be able to get those folks to attend year 1 but it's going to be hard to attract fans of teams 6-10 on a regular basis to spend $1000 (minimum for 1). The flipside, fans of top tier teams with guaranteed trip to NCAA a week later faced with the choice of going to NYC or NCAA 1st weekend. Everyone has a budget, BigEast needs figure out who they are and make some decisions early. I'd add the 2 teams now and even include them in year 1 tv deal having FS1 carry some of their OOC games. The league needs to capitalize on the reputation of the Old Big East and make good use of those positives while they last.

NYC is an expensive as you want it to be.

There are plenty of low priced hotels in NJ, 10-15min away from MSG. Restaurants in the city stretch from very inexpensive to enormously expensive, using something like yelp can help you find good places to eat for reasonable cost. Transportation as well. Much of NYC can be walked, or with a daily metro card you can get around all day for a very low price. No need to take taxis.
Same for bars, and things to do (tons of great entertainment for free or almost nothing), shopping, etc.

Considering how many jobs are in the NY metro, I'd venture to say all of the 10 schools has a sizable alumni base in the area who can buy tickets or provide help to out of town alumni.

Care to share some names? Those of us unfamiliar with the area do not want to get stuck in a rat filled slum or bedbug infested dive.

pick any 1 of these 3, Marriott, Hilton,Starwood, move down their foodchain of brands, i.e., Marriott's Fairfield brand (dynamite Fairfield 5 min walk from MSG). These brands are business traveler hotels and feature outstanding value and accomodations. The closer you stay to the Garden the higher price you pay, Manhattan $350-450, probably $200-250 Meadowlands and $150-195 Newark.

There is a Holiday Inn Express near MSG where I was able to get rooms for less than $300/night. No need for taxis and free breakfast to boot.

Figured I would open this thread back up as I expect some fans will start to look at travel options for road games and the Big East tournament once the conference schedules are released. I was pricing out things out today and you can spend as much as you'd like in Manhattan. I suppose the one variable that we are unsure of is ticket cost for the tournament, so I will be interested to see what they do.
