If you're a good/elite team, you are replacing key players every single year. Marquette and Georgetown have proven to be the most consistent teams in the conference the last 8 years (I'd add Xavier but they played in a different conference so I' withholding judgement). That's why people are picking where they are.I guess I'm just saying that betting against Marquette and Georgetown is not a good proposition for your wallet.

Villanova is getting votes right now due to a slight downturn/inconsistency the last 3 years, but this is the epitome of "what have you done for me lately" thinking. I mean, its been what? Three years since they finished 2nd in the "old" Big East? They should be back soon ( and they're honestly due, especially with their consistent recruiting). I do think everyone is ignoring them, and it makes no sense. Jay Wright has a long track record and I can't see this inconsistent success continuing much longer. When Marquette first joined the Big East Villanova and UConn were the two HUGE names in the league. What were they, both ranked in the top 4 for most of the year?

That's why I voted for Creighton.

Please. You voted for Creighton because you think they're going to be in over their heads far more than anyone is thinking they will, at least based on your dismissive commentary about them on CSN's BBS - and doing so while tap dancing and deflecting all criticism of Marquette.

My guess is this is not your first vote for CU. In fact if I had to guess I'll bet this is your third.

I didn't choose creighton because one first team all American on the squad will carry any team far And creighton has other pieces in place. Both teams have a chance to win the conference if things go their way.

Wow amazing poll results. The last 10 votes have been for Creighton to finish fourth. Again, this is for fun, but do people only vote once? Villanova fans bringing in their family members. This may be a great way to get more people on the board. Again, I kind of like the Jays being picked fourth. I guess the new kid should earn its respect. I think that is exactly what Doug said in the paper this week- he felt always the need to prove himself at every level. That is a common thread of a lot of successful athletes and people. I can't wait for everyone to see him in person. I have never seen anyone that can shoot with his left or right hand around the basket as quickly as he does. Add to that he also has shot 48% and 49% the last two years from three. He looks like an eighth grader playing against sixth graders sometime. I realize there is a jump in the competition, but we have seen him do it to a lot of top teams. Believe he dropped 41 on Carl Hall ( Wich State) in the last game of the season last year.

The Nova fan base seems to be taking the poll very personal...it's just business.

Not anymore personal than some other fan bases have in previous polls *cough* *cough* St. John's 5th poll *cough*. It's no insult to be picked 4th in this league, I guess my biggest question is why everyone seems to be automatically penciling in Marquette & G'Town as #1 and #2. I mean Creighton and Nova with 34 votes for 4th, but the Hoyas and Marq. with 2 a piece? There isn't that much of a gap between 2nd & 3rd place in this league.

Wow. Offended much? No I followed my voting pattern for 5th.

And what are you talking about on CSN? Sorry you get offended about getting picked 5th or whatever, but christ. Seriously, what "dismissive commentary?" I'm sorry if pointing out that a team with less athletic players, who play poor defense, relies on one player for most of their scoring, and have never had a conference schedule as difficult as this one (plus being unfamiliar with the teams) may not be the freakin' favorite to win it all.

And maybe it wouldn't be so easy to "tap dance" around criticism of Marquette if it wasn't so crappy (i.e., pointing to Cadougan loss as huge).

I don't think we can vote more than once (unless you're cheating and making new usernames, which is super lame).

Seriously, what dismissive commentary? You really asked that, and then went ahead and wrote a synopsis of exactly what I was talking about?

But hey, I'll clue you in. Pretty much ever since we've been discussing the upcoming season you've had two narratives: a)Marquette's perceived shortcomings are all BS. ALL of them. You address them with indignance and open irritation towards anyone who mentions them, and b)the perceived shortcomings of pretty much everyone else in the league are legit, and we'd better do ourselves a favor and face up to them now.

As far as me getting offended, it's basically an accumulation of reading that over and over again for months, and you continually writing it in the most nauseatingly condescending way possible. I will give you this, you're not as irritating as Title, who probably took the cake when he put forth that Butler was a more relevant program than Georgetown due to the last five years and then got butt hurt when the Hoya faithful pounded him for it, but you're pretty close.

As far as this poll goes, I couldn't care less if we finished third or fourth.

i'll just interject and say that Title is not representative of Butler fans and he bothers us too.

To be fair if you or someone pointed to losing Cadougan as huge then that would be an example of stupid criticism. Focus more on like our SG spot as that's where you would have a valid concern with mayo being bipolar Anderson playing a new position and Johnson being untested
