It's hard to rank the coaches outside of Wright who is the clear number 1 (I think he's the best coach in the country). Here are the NCAA Tourny records of the current league coaches - including Willard since Hall has not replaced him yet.

Hard to order McDermott-Cooley-Hurley. Could easily flip those.

I think Miller is #2. I don't really think there is an argument otherwise.

Might be unfair to put Anderson in the last tier instead of the 2nd tier.

This is a really solid list of coaches for the league. If/when Holloway gets hired by SH he could eventually join the second group if he proves he can recruit and coach in the BE. Stubblefield is unproven but can’t be any worse then Leito. Anderson’s floor is high and again can’t be any worse then Mullin. Just need Butler and Gtown to get new coaches and we’ll have very few below average coaches in the league.

I think Anderson is in the second group. His body of work is pretty good. To judge Halloway on this tourny run is a mistake. Just like it was a mistake for Georgetown to judge Ewing on the BET last season and give an extension. Let’s see how he does when he gets to South Orange and has to run through the Big East gauntlet.

Yes, where does Thad Matta rank? 8 conference titles in 17 seasons coaching at 3 different schools, and a .740 record overall. He’s a few years younger than Greg McDermott and has more wins in spite of having not coached since 2017. He’s not coached for a bit but he is surely a top tier coach and huge get for Butler. Will be interesting to see if he sticks around if successful.

McDermott and Cooley are good coaches, but the Miller and Matta hires seem to have pushed them toward the middle of the pack, which is great for the Big East. Is Matta or Miller the second best coach, though? That's tougher to judge.
