I absolutely agree, but I think it's important for us Big East people to recognize that right now the strength of the league is not necessarily with us but with the teams that might join us.
I don't agree with your assessment Admin. With all due respect to what are great basketball schools--especially Butler and Xavier--but they need us more than we need them. I would not consider them the "strength" of the league. Creighton may be ranked higher than Xavier, Nova, G'Town Marquette and Butler and have a better RPI but that means squat to me on whether or not we should add them. Right now Stephen S. Austin has a higher RPI than : Kentucky, Wisconsin, V'Nova, G'Town, GA Tech, VA, Wake, Vandy, Tennessee, Marq, & Xavier. Let's not send any reps down to TX any time soon though. I think Butler and Xavier are perfect additions. After that, you need to really think this through. In 2 years Creighton could fall off the face of the baseketball scene. They have won exactly 1 game in the NCAA's in the past decade. Looking at them a little more closely I like what they bring to the table: strong fan base, good facilities, commitment to BB success, similar in size and mission to Nova and GT'n, a new market for the league, etc. But RPI and rank in 2013 means less than nothing to me. If the league starts in 2015, I would expect that between now and then Creighton would have a lot of work to do reloading to be in the top half of the league. But I would expect G'Town, Nova, Marq, Xavier, Butler (and probably Lavin and SJU by then) to be very formidable because of a history of achievement. If Creighton had a NCAA record like a Butler, Gozaga or Xavier I would probably think differently. Just being honest here...

1) Georgetown
2) Villanova
3) St. Johns
4) Marquette
5) Xavier
6) Butler
7) Creighton
8) Seton Hall
9) Providence
10) DePaul
11) SLU
12) Dayton

This is starting to have the feel of a Wichita Shocker board-everybody thinks they are the best and we are so lucky to be around.
Creighton's national attendance ranking over the last several years:

I am not familiar with the prospective schools Olympic results so I can't post them, but it may alter who is actually the most attractive members based on their total sports programs and not just mens bball.
Williams said the Catholic Seven hope to build their conference with “schools that are committed to competitive excellence, primarily in men’s basketball, and also competitive excellence across a number of other team sports.”
Other sports that Williams said he will value highly in prospective additions to the Catholic Seven will include women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer and volleyball.
