Does nobody stick around? Or come in for games? MU sells out games even during break

We do? Our attendance average isn't really pushing the BC's capacity.

19,000 is the capacity at the Bradley Center. We sell a little over 15,000/game. That is, I believe, in the top 5% in the country, but nowhere near selling out every game. The community is very strongly behind Marquette, but there are maybe 5 schools in the country that can boast a sellout every game with an arena that size.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Unless my count is off, the Friars are playing 14 of their 18 conference games on Fox Sports 1, 2 on FSN National, and 2 on CBS Sports Network. That is by far more national exposure than you got from ESPN and the times are better as well. Moreover, if you look at Georgetown, they have 15 on Fox Sports 1, 1 on CBS and 2 on CBS Sports Network. So there is really very little difference (2 games) between Georgetown (who you said was going to get all the coverage) and Providence. No reason for the Friars to complain about TV exposure with this schedule.

Yeah, I agree. I like the Friars schedule and TV exposure a lot. I like our home game dates too-- 3 on Saturdays, 5 on Tuesday nights, and 1 on a Wednesday.
Good times in the Big East...!

On a separate note on the TV coverage, the Johnnies out of conference schedule has an additional four games on Fox Sports 1 (Cuse, Bucknell, Youngstown State and San Francisco), two on FSN (Fordham at MSG and Dartmouth), and Wagner on Fox Sports 2. There are still six games with TV to be determined which usually means SNY or MSG in NY. One of those is Wisconsin and two others are the Barclays Classic against Penn State and either Ga. Tech or Ole Miss. Those will likely find their way to ESPN or Fox. The national TV coverage is crazy.

Not loving the cbs sports network but if it gets the league on cbs, I guess that's worth it. I guess I'm gonna have to buy the sports package in able to get it. Also interesting is the agreement that CBS Sports Network will show atleast 2 women's basketball games this year and select olympic sports, not bad...

As for Creighton, can't complain at all, every game this year on national TV so far except 3! Home vs. Alcorn State (probably will be picked up by NETV - Nebraska's PBS Station), AT St. Joe's (would think ESPNU or maybe NBC Sports Network would pick up) and then AT Long Beach State. This years schedule has more national TV exposure for Creighton than the last 6-7 years combined.

Looking @ the 'Nova schedule, I'm thankful the "bigger" names are on weekends, and a more accessible ticket downtown at the Wells Fargo Center. They play St John's on two Saturday's (Garden, WFC), Marquette, and Georgetown. Of the new teams, I'm intrigued by the Monday matchup against Creighton downtown, and see a potential road trip to the Cintas Center.

Four games on CBS College Sports. Most conference home games scheduled when students are out on break. Several tight turnarounds. No participation on the last Tuesday. Three 9 p.m. weekday starts. 2-3 more starts before the end of the workday. From the perspective of a Xavier fan this is not a very favorable schedule.

Also only 1 game on "Tuesday Big East Showdown" this year

Definitely not pleased with the draw we got.

Just for agument's sake, you do know Milwaukee is a 15 minute further plane ride than Chicago, right?

Ended up not mattering that Milwaukee is almost just as close -- that game's during the week, too.

Overall pretty satisfied with this schedule and really looking forward to it. But Marquette, Butler, and DePaul would be the easiest road trips for Jays fans to make -- and every single one of those games is is a midweek game. That's what they make "sick days" at work for, right?

bmorex wrote:Just a really lousy schedule if you are a Xavier student. Spring semester starts January 13.

Students miss:
12/31 vs. St John's (Christmas break)
1/4 vs. Butler (Christmas break)
1/9 vs. Marquette (Christmas break)
3/1 vs. Creighton (Christmas break)

I consider Butler to be our biggest rival so missing that one my senior year definitely hurts.

Isn't half of Xavier's student body from Ohio? Nothing stopping you from coming back to see that game. I know Georgetown has sparse crowds over winter break, but we're a lot less regional than Xavier is.
