Seriously, what dismissive commentary? You really asked that, and then went ahead and wrote a synopsis of exactly what I was talking about?

But hey, I'll clue you in. Pretty much ever since we've been discussing the upcoming season you've had two narratives: a)Marquette's perceived shortcomings are all BS. ALL of them. You address them with indignance and open irritation towards anyone who mentions them, and b)the perceived shortcomings of pretty much everyone else in the league are legit, and we'd better do ourselves a favor and face up to them now.

Yeah, I don't get this Marquette and Georgetown 's concerns are pretty much bogus, while everyone else's are legit narrative that seems to be gripping this board. I'm sorry Marquette and Georgetown have as many questions as Villanova, Creighton, and St. John's.

Sorry losing Vander Blue & Cadougan is significant, just because you replaced some key players the year before and had no drop off, doesn't mean that happens all the time. It's the exception, not the rule. Georgetown loses Porter and didn't Whittington, the guy they were hoping to pick up the slack, blow out his ACL?

Wow. Offended much? No I followed my voting pattern for 5th.

And what are you talking about on CSN? Sorry you get offended about getting picked 5th or whatever, but christ. Seriously, what "dismissive commentary?" I'm sorry if pointing out that a team with less athletic players, who play poor defense, relies on one player for most of their scoring, and have never had a conference schedule as difficult as this one (plus being unfamiliar with the teams) may not be the freakin' favorite to win it all.

And maybe it wouldn't be so easy to "tap dance" around criticism of Marquette if it wasn't so crappy (i.e., pointing to Cadougan loss as huge).

As far as me getting offended, it's basically an accumulation of reading that over and over again for months, and you continually writing it in the most nauseatingly condescending way possible. I will give you this, you're not as irritating as Title, who probably took the cake when he put forth that Butler was a more relevant program than Georgetown due to the last five years and then got butt hurt when the Hoya faithful pounded him for it, but you're pretty close.

As far as this poll goes, I couldn't care less if we finished third or fourth.

Are you kidding me? You responded like a jerk to a post in which all I said about Creighton was "that's why I voted For Creighton." In a post in which I defended Villanova's program.

You get offended quite easily as I have not talked much about other teams on that board, and if anything stood up for programs like Xavier and Providence. I advocated for Creighton, defended their lack of tourney success multiple times. But sure, take everything as a personal slight.

To be fair if you or someone pointed to losing Cadougan as huge then that would be an example of stupid criticism. Focus more on like our SG spot as that's where you would have a valid concern with mayo being bipolar Anderson playing a new position and Johnson being untested

This. I have high hopes for Mayo but am nervous. Hope he can be what he was in the 2012 tourney when he outplayed blue completely in 3 straight games. Last year was list for him - ineligible for half of the year and then could barely get on the court cause blue was playing 32+ mins. He ended getting on the floor and shooting as fast as he could to prove something IMO.

No that's the thing. At Georgetown and Marquette having a drop off is the exception and not having a drop off is the rule. It does happen all the time. It's happened every single year at Georgetown under JT3 except in 2009. 8 out of 9 teams seems like the rule to me.

Whittington tore his ACL in June. While unlikely he could be back by January on the 6 month timeline that some professional athletes have done. And we have plenty of other talented players who can and will step up.

That being said, I have no problem with people questioning Georgetown or Marquette. Georgetown has to replace the BE POY. I think Marquette fans are being too dismissive of the criticism concerning their back court. PG is a question mark despite what they say. Buzz Williams is very reticent to play Freshman it will be interesting to see what he does this year. It's a Bizzaro Marquette this year very strong front court and questionable back court. total opposite of the normal marquette make up of 2006-2012

Hoyahooligan I agree the PG spot is a question that we may be taking a bit lightly but per his stats derrick Wilson is effective nothing flashy but rarely turns the ball over. If we play slower then all he needs to do is get the ball down and our front court will take care of everything. I think SG is more scary.

But like GTown (off the top of my head they've had to replace Clark, freeman, porter, Simms, Thompson) MU has shown the rule is we know how to replace our top players (Mcneal, Mathews, James, Hayward, butler, DJO, Crowder, Blue) so what the other fans aren't getting is our teams don't have the drop of that they do.

Marquette is losing a lot more than their fans want to admit. Just making the tournament would be a good season for Marquette.

And people were saying Nova fans were taking this too personal, might want to include Marquette and Georgetown fans in that basket.

As I said in another thread, you can tell the season's just around the corner, it's starting to heat up round here.

So, Marquette put together their best season in 10 years, lose 4 key players from that team, but it will be no
trouble to replace them?

I love to hear MU disparaging their own players, saying that a kid like Cadougan really wasn't that good. Well, he and the rest were good enough to get them to the Elite 8. I'd say those guys were pretty damn good. Replacing them, replacing their experience, their toughness, and the chemistry they had will be very difficult.

Totally agree. Think about this- it's like a hundred fans voting on a pre season poll. But hey, that's why we love this league- it's going to be great. I really feel it will be for the most part a very supportive group. It's like family, you pick on each other constantly, but don't want outsiders doing it. As has been said about the recruiting for 2014, it shows the bball league first is going to make this a top, premier league! It 's what all of our conference teams wanted and it will happen. Maybe we just all changes positions year from year, but the league will be top notch.
