The foul on Williams was probably a right call-but a T, come on. Then its an entirely different situation, still get the 3 shots but then we're getting the ball back and with Clayton taking the last 2 shots (bad FT shooter) he could have missed at least 1 or maybe 2. At worst we're down 1 with the ball and the same 4.7 seconds left. The 3-shot awarded foul on that heave (which the NBA has outlawed if they weren't really going to be shooting and just trying to get a call) was a joke and that's when Coach went crazy on the refs--understandably. It was already tweeted yesterday afternoon that that crew is done for the rest of the tournament--also the particular ref--it was noted--only ref'd 16 games during the year--not exactly a seasoned ref.

The Original T on Williams had to be called as a T - as the ball was through the hoop and it was a dead ball foul at that point. So the first part the ref got right. The call for 3 shots from Half court was a 100% the wrong call. That should have been just a common foul - not a shooting foul.

Per the coach getting T'd up - that was the right call - he left the box. The assistants job is to control the coach in that situation. Should not have been a double technical - but really once they blew the 3 shot foul call - why not go all in.

Heartbreaker - As a former Ref I could not believe they called the 3 shot foul (You just never call a shooting foul from half court) - but 100% agree with the call on Williams - it was the right call - every Ref would have made the same call - William lost his composure - you just can't push a player like that. If Williams does not make that push - none of the rest happens and worst case - Charlotte intentionally misses the second shot - makes the put back and there is over time.

Great Butler-SLU game. CBS Sports Network is the channel.

Another battle. Wouldn't have thought it would go any other way.

The A10 has the worst refs (Ellis flop, Trip on Aldridge w/ about 3 left). Congrats to SLU though. It was a good game for the first 25 mins. Butler just went cold.

Ok. No more pretense required.

Now X and Butler can exit stage right...and leave those crappy officials behind forever.

Thank Almighty Gawd.

That's a Billiken Three-Peat over Butler!

Butler has obvious weaknesses that SLU has been able to exploit. SLU blew out Butler at Chaifetz Arena, won the rematch at Hinkle Fieldhouse, and has beaten Butler a 3rd time on the neutral court in Brooklyn.

SLU now leads the all-time series 19-11.

Beware of the Billikens!

That was a good charge call when the Butler guy plowed into Cody. Butler should not expect to get any 50:50 calls, given its One and Done 5th Place finish in the A10.

It was good to see Cody hit all those 3's.

And how about Dwayne Evans? 24 points, 11 rebounds today against overmatched Butler, and 25 points, 9 rebounds yesterday against Charlotte.

Seeing the (apparently justified) moaning about the A-10 officials raises this semi-serious question: Who gets custody of the Big East officials? Whither Jim Burr?

I was interested in this myself. If the Big East retains it's officials, it will be interesting to see how the added teams adapt to the physicality of Big East play, where basic fouls are rarely called.
