I had to work late so I recorded the games and, of course, the recording ended with about a minute to go in regulation of the CU/MU game. I need to find a replay so I can see what happened but to Creighton fans, my sympathies.

#21 Marquette 106, Creighton 104, OT - ESPN Box Score – January 9, 2019

Quite simply, a game for the ages that will become a permanent part of Marquette basketball folklore.

Howard scores record 53 as MU tops Creighton in OT – Marquette University – January 9, 2019
OMAHA - Markus Howard scored 14 of his career-high 53 points in overtime after Sam Hauser's deep 3-pointer at the end of regulation tied the game, and No. 21 Marquette beat Creighton 106-104 on Wednesday night. Howard's dazzling offensive performance set a Marquette record and broke his own record for points in a Big East game.

It was also the highest-scoring performance ever by a Creighton opponent.

Marquette never led until Howard scored on his team's first possession of overtime.
Marquette repeatedly cut into Creighton leads only to see the Bluejays pull ahead again.

But with the Golden Eagles within 85-82 and 0.8 seconds on the clock, Creighton's long inbound pass touched nobody and rolled out of bounds on the other end. That gave Marquette possession under its basket. Hauser caught the inbound on the left wing and launched a shot that left his fingertips just before the clock hit zeroes. The 3-pointer was ruled good immediately, and the call was upheld after a long video review.

Markus Howard scores 53 as No. 21 Marquette tops Creighton – AP/ESPN Game Recap – January 9, 2019
HE SAID IT: "That was one of the most incredible college basketball games I've ever been a part of. I know I'm not ancient, but I've been a part of playing or coaching some incredible games. I'm not sure I've ever been part of a game like that. It's a game where somebody shouldn't have to lose." -- Steve Wojciechowski.

Congratulations to both Marquette and Creighton. College basketball doesn’t get any better than this.

Heartbreak for Creighton, but let's be real...you guys have been pretty damn successful in the Big East. You guys are still in the process of getting more key players. Nothing to hang your heads about and I think Mac is a pretty good coach. In other news, Seton Hall should play the lotto. What are they like 5-1 in games decided by 5 or less? You can see it as luck or as a sign of a good team. No team is more confusing IMO. Still think law of averages levels out for them when all said and done.

I was only able to see the highlights and some online reaction to the games last night, but the end of Marquette-Creighton appears to be another black eye for the Big East refs. Too bad because it was a tremendous game.

I really never used to complain about refs so much in years past or think so much about calls. Of course some tick tack calls are made and it annoys us, but never to this level. There have been several calls now that have cost the game directly for 2 teams and neither one was close. Ours against SHU was obvious and I'm hearing that the one last night was obvious too with the clock. These are not little things. Also, the missed goaltend against Nova in our game which obviously didn't decide the game but was still a huge no call nonetheless. When so many of these conf. games are decided by single digits, they just cannot afford to be this awful. They do not receive any discipline for poor performance. I think it's time that changed.

I can’t get the photo to load. Pretty obviously still in his hand with 0.0 and red light on backboard. Ref seemed pretty excited to call it good. Still never should have come down to this moment.

I think last night was good overall for the league. It feels like we have four legit tournament teams in Nova, Marquette, SJU and Seton Hall. I think one more team will sneak in, but when X is not playing those four, I'll be rooting for them to get as high a seed as possible.
