Not really. How many AAC coaches would a P5 even want? And Cronin won't stay at Cincy much longer.

Maybe because most years the AAC doesn't have anybody worth poaching? And we've had a ton of talent every year?

Houston resigned their coach, and I'd be willing to bet they have more $$$ available than any team in the AAC. At worst, they're top 2-3.

Conferences have tiers and Seton Hall is not in the same tier as Nova or Georgetown (who keep their coaches). The same is true for all conferences. Just this week the ACC had a coach poached by the SEC, and TCU (Big 12) is about to have their coach poached by UCLA (Pac 12). Does that make the SEC better than the ACC? Does that make the Pac 12 better than the Big 12?

Stop with the inferiority complex. You're becoming a joke on Redmen. Most of us are unhappy with Mullin, but you need to grow up and stop overreacting to every little thing.

The feeling around SHU seems to be swinging back towards expecting Willard to stay put.

By no means a done deal of course - but yesterday everyone seemed to think he was already gone, though much of that may have been panic/overreaction.

Lol, first I have 160K followers online (not related to #sjubb), and I do plan at some point to make some St. John's accounts. I understand how to build an online community and could very easily outdo what you've done with Mullin's Maniacs. You're fortunate I'm not into #sjubb feuds. ;)

Second, you're bothering everybody on Redmen. Not just me.

Seriously, I respect what you've done with MM in building a community, but at the same time these toxic posts don't help. I actually agree with a lot of your posts on Mullin (wish he wasn't coming back), and a month or two ago I thought you were a solid contributor, but you really go off the rails at times. This is one of those times. Just relax and let things play out before jumping to conclusions.

I normally dislike promoting the Big East/AAC comparisons, but I'll take a stab at it.

For our current configuration of the Big East, the league has lost Buzz Williams (Texas A&M), Chris Holtmann (Ohio State) and Chris Mack (Xavier) to other programs. That's three in five years. Steve Lavin, John Thompson III, Brandon Miller and Oliver Purnell have all been fired or mutually agreed to part ways. For the current configuration of the AAC, they have lost Kevin Ollie (fired), Larry Brown (resigned), James Dickey (resigned), Danny Manning (Wake Forest), Stan Heath (fired), Orlando Antigua (fired), Fran Dunphry (retired), Josh Pastner (Georgia Tech), Tubby Smith (fired), Jeff Lebo (fired), Donnie Jones (fired), Mike Dunleavy Sr. (fired), and Ed Conroy (fired) in that same time frame.

By my count, the Big East has lost seven head coaches, three of whom went on to other jobs. The AAC, by contrast, has lost a whopping thirteen coaches, with only two going on to other jobs. I would think that a conference would much rather be in a position of needing to replace successful coaches than consistently replacing unsuccessful ones.

1 little nitpick- Manning never coached in the AAC, he left after the 2014 season. If you count him for the AAC, you have to count Stevens for the Big East.

Will say that the current collection of coaches for the AAC is very solid. Sampson, Cronin, Dawkins, Holloway, Gregory, Heath, Dooley, Marshall, Hurley, and now Hunter as 10 of the 12 coaches. With McKie and Jankovich as the other 2. 9 coaches who have taken teams to the NCAA tournament. So while they've had a lot of turnover negatively, they've in almost every situation upgraded considerably in there. I think with the exception maybe of St John's and Butler- you can say the same thing with the Big East.

I think both leagues could be really good next year.

So, what's the latest?
I'm seeing reports of:

UCLA's top choice is Dixon.
UCLA's 2nd choice is Mick Cronin.

If UCLA gets Dixon, then:
Virginia Tech gets Cronin.
Not sure if Willard is still under consideration?

Dixon is still negotiating with UCLA, trying to figure out how to deal with his $8 million buyout with TCU.

Any more up-to-date information from anyone?
