I normally dislike promoting the Big East/AAC comparisons, but I'll take a stab at it.
For our current configuration of the Big East, the league has lost Buzz Williams (Texas A&M), Chris Holtmann (Ohio State) and Chris Mack (Xavier) to other programs. That's three in five years. Steve Lavin, John Thompson III, Brandon Miller and Oliver Purnell have all been fired or mutually agreed to part ways. For the current configuration of the AAC, they have lost Kevin Ollie (fired), Larry Brown (resigned), James Dickey (resigned), Danny Manning (Wake Forest), Stan Heath (fired), Orlando Antigua (fired), Fran Dunphry (retired), Josh Pastner (Georgia Tech), Tubby Smith (fired), Jeff Lebo (fired), Donnie Jones (fired), Mike Dunleavy Sr. (fired), and Ed Conroy (fired) in that same time frame.
By my count, the Big East has lost seven head coaches, three of whom went on to other jobs. The AAC, by contrast, has lost a whopping thirteen coaches, with only two going on to other jobs. I would think that a conference would much rather be in a position of needing to replace successful coaches than consistently replacing unsuccessful ones.
