With Notre Dame gone, I don't know who MU's rival is/will be. The fact that I'm struggling to think of one shows that we really don't have one.

We had two very close games against Butler last year, but with Stevens gone, Im not sure it'll be as competitive (at least in the short-term). I hope Im wrong on that.

Otherwise, we've had some pretty close games against SJU. Jimmy Butler's buzzer-beater at the Carnesecca. Eliminating SJU in the BE tourney a couple yrs ago. Oh, and the buzzer-beater last year to clinch a share of the BE "regular season" "title" (does air quotes). Plus, Lavin reminds me of Crean. SJU as a rival? Any takers?

I honestly thought Marquette/Depaul would have taken off post C-USA. If SLU were to get in at some point, I have zero doubt it would be Marquette first, second, and third.

I think there is the possibility of a nice rivalry with butler (if they can actually beat them!). I went to the SLU Butler game in Indy last year and it was a great atmosphere. It was a close game, SLU traveled very well, and everyone was into it.

I have no idea who Marquettes rival is going to be. Butler is a definite possibility with the few games we have played in the past, but it takes years to build a rivalry, so only time will tell. I really wish we could keep playing Notre Dame. I know every MU hates ND and it has always been a good rivalry, but who knows if they could work out the logistics. At least we still have that other school is Wisconsin. Hats off to them on that great entertainment against ASU.
