So what do folks think about Nova/Kansas?

I mean right now with how Kansas is playing- like Rick Pitino said in is top 4 today on twitter(he's actually a pretty good follow)- something is missing but they will figure it out

So right now is it-
a- best time possible to see them when they're not clicking on all facets? They barely beat New Mexico St and Nova is a whole hell of a lot better than NMSU obviously.
b- worst possible time as they're due to have a break out game?

I feel like you could make the case for either one....

If it weren't in Lawrence I would feel better. Clearly, we will need to firing (pun intended) on all cylinders. Kansas is loaded. A loss there is not the end of the world so long as the team continues to grow. Samuels is finally starting to show what we had known / hoped for from him and, I believe Cremo gets the death mask off this week. Although his shooting has been decent, it clearly is impacting his vision. Bey--is a beast. Watching a future star develop in front of us. Before anyone asks, IMO Quinerly still has a long way to go before he gets serious burn. He was hurt last week, saw some time against St. Joes, but got burned on D a couple of times. Would love for him to come along quicker, but it will be a process.

That said, I am VERY worried about Penn on Tuesday night. They are good, have a lot of experience and are plying very well now. Can not look past that game. Classic TRAP.

i would say trap game except for the fact that it's against a Big 5 opponent. So they know what they're walking into there.....

Neither team has looked as good as advertised so far. I think it should be a very good game

Nova lost BIG to Michigan. Michigan has pounded some really good teams. UM beat the three ranked teams they've played--Nova, UNC and Purdue--by an AVERAGE of 21 pts.; PC by a bunch. How they are not #1 or #2 in the country is beyond me. One bad loss to Furman at home (who are in the Top 25), but made up for it with a win over #10 Fla St. on a neutral court. So, it's not like Nova has been really bad.

They're young, they're finding the right mix on the court. Each game has shown improvement IMO. They'll be a tough out as the season progresses and their defensive identity starts to take form. Honestly, I think part of their issues has been that Booth and Paschall have tried to do too much. Cremo, DCR, Gillespie, Samuels have all shown that they can contribute. Eric and Phil need to stop forcing it. It's not their game.

In terms of Kansas, I think it is a really tough spot. We've beaten KU and Bill Self 3 times in a row--the last 2 in big spots (E8 & FF). After the beatdown in San Antonio last year, something tells me they've got this game circled on their schedules. I expect a very fired up crowd and Jayhawk team. With a youngish Nova team under the big lights, in a raucous environment, I can see nerves playing a role. I am anticipating a possible lopsided contest.

100% focus needs to be on the Penn game at this point. Nova will be favored, but only by a few points given that it's away and Penn looks really good this year.

Win that then hope for an upset @ #1 Kansas.

Yep, 1 game at a time. KU is beatable. But in Lawrence u can beat KU, but u also have to beat the refs.

344 adjT probably isn't by design. Phil having to play PG has screwed up his game, I really think Jay needs to take the beating now and adapt to Quinerly because we have no shot creator otherwise. I'm ok with Paschall chucking threes, he has to.

Booth Is the PG? Explains why his game has been off. Both he & Ponds have been inconsistent.

Booth is our backup PG, and often tasked with initiating the offense even with Gillespie on the floor. Neither are very good at it, although Gillespie has improved a little bit. Ponds has been inconsistent? I look at his low output games as him just letting his teammates shine and conserving energy.
