One of those games that Leitao will miss will surely be the Gavitt Games at Iowa.

That's not too bad. Functionally the coach misses some warm-up games and they get a written warning. To be fair, though, it appears the only impermissible benefits they uncovered was some extra babysitting of an incoming player (granted, prior to them enrolling) to make sure they did their homework and passed their finals. A three-year show-cause for the associate and vacating records (granted, it's DePaul's records, so not so bad) seems a bit excessive for that. NCAA better really have something coming down the pipe for the schools actually caught arranging cash payments if they're digging in on stuff like this.

...aaaaaand now everyone knows why Rick Carter left the program so unexpectedly.

Very simple question: what will it take for DePaul to replace its current inept athletic director?
What kind of culture exists there that would allow the program to make bad decisions that end up leading it to a probationary action?
So, make that two questions.

Do we know what player they are referring to?

Do I have this right?
The kid had graduated already from HS. Some body in athletic dept. monitored his life to make sure he would pass some tests for NCAA eligibility. Person did not take any test, etc. for the athlete.
All kinds of penalties result. (wonder if he had come on campus and got this help if there would have been any problem?)
Meanwhile, UNC runs hundreds of athletes through a bogus program for them to remain eligible, over a decade +, and....crickets.

The belief among DePaul fans is that it's Levi Cook.
So, the assistant in question (Rick Carter), the Assistant DoBO (Bryan Tibaldi) and the player in question have all left the program. Carter was basically forced out by the school, who self-reported the violation, Tibaldi left to take a job at Cleveland State, and Cook transferred. Leitao gets three games basically because it happened under his watch.
