Saw this online and since it has a heavy Big East slant, wanted to share the link:

Not sharing anything that still clings to the "power 5" terminology

It looks like the author was using the term facetiously

It’s The Athletic, paywall and NOT the New York Times.

Sorry. I read it on the NYT website and there was no firewall. Did they buy The Atlhetic or maybe have some arrangement to post their articles?

Overrated

1. Gonzaga. The Zags have only lost four games and are ranked No. 14 in both polls, but their lack of speed on the perimeter (and inability to stop dribble penetration) will prevent them from making their usual March push.

2. Xavier. The Musketeers have played stellar ball, but it’s only a matter of time before their soft defense and shallow bench do them in.

3. UConn. The Huskies rose to No. 2 in late December, but they’ve been on a downward spiral since. They had another chance to prove their mettle at home against Xavier last week, but they fell behind by 17 points in the first half and couldn’t quite recover. Great teams don’t do that.

4. Auburn. Somehow the Tigers climbed all the way to No. 15 in the AP poll despite having just one Quad 1 win. Their losses last week to Texas A&M (home) and West Virginia (road) served as a course correction.

5. Clemson. All due credit to the Tigers for rising to the top of the ACC standings, but this is a highly mediocre conference, and Clemson also has Quad 4 losses to South Carolina and Loyola Chicago.

Are they saying UConn is overrated at AP #24? Also, "great teams don't do that" is silly, because the #24 team generally isn't a great team. It's like they have memories of UConn in December, rather than paying attention to more recent games and how UConn is viewed now.

I always love these articles with Rube Goldberg logic.

So they're saying that Xavier is overrated for winning at UConn, and UConn is overrated for losing to Xavier. So the same game created two "overrated" situations for the Big East.
