Big East just kicking the whole state of Michigan in the shorts this spring. First, the Wildcats from Philly smoke Michigan for another Natty and now DePaul plucks the best player in the state of Michigan away from UM and MSU. Beautiful.

It's a big year for Leitao. He doesn't need to win the Big East to keep his job, but tangible improvement and a showing of competitiveness is definitely required.

They WERE more competitive last year. They were 4-14 in conference play- but had 5 losses in conference play by 5 points or less, and a 3 point loss in the BET. They finished #99 in Ken Pom. If that's not tangible improvement, I don't know what is.

Agree with Demon22 and Gumby...The Blue Demons are stepping in the right direction. With the players, transfers they have, it only takes 2 or 3 new recruits to right the ship.
C'mon DePaul (Leitao & Co.)...grab a couple more good recruits to go with Weems. It will be fun to have a top tier DePaul visiting Omaha and the rest. Get'er done.

Creighton just received a commitment from 2019 PG Shereef Mitchell from Omaha Burke. He is #135 on 24/7 composite and a 4*. He was the Nebraska 2018 Gatorade player of the year, averaging 24.6 PPG. Some have compared his play to Bryce Cotton. We can only hope!!

Great news! 6 four star players this early is really good. Definitely think this has a good chance at the second best class ever, with an outside chance at the best. Generally we get around a dozen four star players, and maybe a five star. Halfway there.

SJU is in on a few five stars, who could be influenced by a Rice hire. I don't see it happening, but you never know what happens if they have a good season.

So far, 7 out of our 8 2019 recruits are 4*. Great start!

So out of the 40 4/5 star recruits who have committed, 7 have gone to the Big East.

7/40= 17.5%

Teams per P6 conference:
ACC: 15
Big 12: 10
Big East: 10
Big Ten: 14
PAC 12: 12
SEC: 14
P6 Total: 75

Add an extra fake P7 conference consisting of about 10 teams that recruit 4/5 stars. Gonzaga, St. Mary's, best of the AAC, best of the A10, Western Kentucky (lol), UNLV, Nevada, etc.

P7 Total: 85

Big East percent of P7: 11.7%.

Big East accounts for 11.7% of the P7, and so far has recruited 17.5% of all 4/5 stars.

Or, put another way.
Average number of 4/5 star recruits per school:
BE: 0.7 (7/10)
Rest of the P7: 0.44 (33/75)

Will those numbers go down as the 5 stars start committing to Duke and Kentucky? Obviously. But it's very impressive regardless. I'm sure every poster on here (with the exception of Stever lol) would've signed up to be simply average vs other major conferences 5 years ago.

Think we have to be top 2 or 3 for all conferences in terms of recruiting so far.

Big East is doing an amazing job this cycle.

Excellent.

6’9” PF
220 lbs
119 Overall 24/7 Composite

From GA, the heart of SEC and ACC country. So PC lands a 4* from NC, then X snags a 4* from GA. THAT speaks volumes about conference cred.

The Dude(anon), my guy...

Simply put. BE recruiting is above expectations from the middle-bottom schools and below expectations at the top. This is a combination of Jay Wright seemingly being blacklisted by the 1-and-dones despite his success and the (hopefully temporary) down-turns at both Marquette and Georgetown.

If the middle schools can maintain their current recruiting trajectories and at least 2 of 4 (Nova, Georgetown, Marquette, Xavier) start pulling top 25 guys we will be fine. Until then, its dishonest to say that BE recruiting is fine.

I have no issue with your POV as we (BE) don't get any 1&D's and I am a bit put off about it. As a Top 2-3 conference in the nation, we should be pulling in a couple top 25 guys. As a top conference the Big East is (should be) expected to be hauling in a couple of the top kids each year. Hopefully, Creighton will pull a WKU and snag 1 in 2019.

I really admire and like how you just automatically lumped the hoyer saxers and golden warrior eagles in your top tier. Neither is top tier and the proof is in the finishing. They get no credit for OBE "Old Times Sakes" ( Freddy Jackson and the 80's notwithstanding. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbXuQHX ... bXuQHXwdMU ), Okay, okay - Enough of the old times sake crap. Butler, Creighton, and Providence would have been better inserts, rather than being relegated to the "mid-bottom schools". The hangin' sax players and big brother GW's don't get no "gimmee's" in this league - they gotta Earn it! :o

Fortunately Prov, Cr8n, and da Dawgs (Butler) gonna shine this season... ;)
