Shannon is a helluva pickup. Was injured his Jr season and improved throughout his senior campaign. Football/Hoops guy, great size and an excellent player. He fell into a crack due to injury and many forgot about him. I had hoped the Jays would go after him hard, but no. This is great for DePaul and Leitao. ;)

Hey! Nice going Demons. I mean...can any of us wrap our brains around this awesome conference if DePaul of all programs emerged from the shadows and became nationally relevant? ***chills*** Way to go.

My only concerns about DePaul are:

#1 They're being investigated by the NCAA
#2 Pitino's $200K allegation

They seem like they'd be a major conference scapegoat for the NCAA.

Otherwise, if they can get around this stuff, it would be really nice for the future of the BE.

1. The Chicago Tribune already reported that the NCAA investigation was in regards to a secondary violation that involved a former coach and player.

2. I can just about guarantee you that no one associated with DePaul ever offered Brian Bowen a damn thing to enroll there.

#1 is great to hear.

For #2, we'll see how it plays out.

I have no clue how we have people like Sean Miller not getting in trouble. I wonder when/if the NCAA will act.

So let's unpack this a bit.

First: "I wonder when/if the NCAA will act." Exhibit A: UNC. Exhibit B: Omari Spellman in 2017. So there is overwhelming evidence that UNC had serious academic violations (hello Rashad McCants) and they didn't even get a slap on the wrist. Omari Spellman entered 9th grade, struggled a bit as a young kid, and then transferred. PArents just didn't think he was ready for H.S. He then re-enters H.S. the next year and becomes a very good student over the next 4 years and graduates. He is ruled ineligible for his first year because of that 1 month. Tells you all you need to know about the NCAA.

Second, : "I have no clue how we have people like Sean Miller not getting in trouble." It seems that ESPN jumped the gun a bit on the Miller story. He has vehemently denied it to the extent that he was willing to forfeit substantial income if he was found to have done anything improper. Sounds like a guy putting his $ where his mouth is. Look, is the world of recruiting sleezy at times and does Miller seem to have that Cal/Pitino/Boeheim way about him where he is the star of the show, integrity be damned? Yes., that what it seems. But ESPN reporting may have conjecture.

I am definitely pulling for DePaul. If they can get these kids on campus, they'll be a tough out. Isn't that what we all have been imploring the Demons to become?

Thanks. Regarding Miller, I didn't know the report may have been off. Regardless, there's still a ton of smoke around the FBI report. Even Nova may have had a problem with that coaching meeting or whatever. Am I concerned about that? Not really, because I think all schools will be found to be in some type of violation when more from the FBI is uncovered.

And yes, I am absolutely rooting for DePaul. Would love to see them in the Tournament or at least NIT one year.

Loyola has "embarrassed" DePaul into actually trying in basketball again.....LOL!

Porter Moser is doing it with a lot lot less.....My wife has a graduate degree from there.....It has a really really small footprint in almost every way.....

The 3rd biggest hotbed of Bball by population and the #1 city school is not relevant.....

There is no reason why DePaul and St. John's should not field "minimally" very competitive teams almost every year......

Wow..
DePaul seems to be flirting with success but these decommitments are frustrating. If they just keep guys like Shannon or the guard that went to UCLA, they’re instantly 5-7 in the conference.
How did DePaul recruit during Leitao’s first stint with DePaul in CUSA with Marquette?
