I don''t think anyone is abandoning ship here, but based on the games so far it is hard to see Nova as the pick to win the league. That could change as the season goes on but this is based on the snapshot of the league as of today. Nova is a great program - a championship program. But it doesn't mean everyone needs to think they will win every year.

Not jumping ship here GTMO. Still believe in my Cats. Concerned, hell yeah. Going to take a while for them to be competitive at a high level, but as we say.. we trust in Jay.

I will say there is a lot of concern on Quinerly in the fan base. Knowing Jay's history, he probably hasn't picked up the defensive schemes in practice. You dont play D, you dont play. We shall see if he comes around.

We were spoiled with Arch and Brunson, it is usually difficult for a freshman to come into a system like Nova and make a difference at the point from day 1.

Nova is young. They lost a lot to the draft. But they have what may be the best pure coach in the game. Jay doesn’t recruit NBA players, but he turns college players into NBA players. Coach K and Cal don’t do that. Nova will be fine but Jay needs time to get this group going. He needs time to coach them.

Nova is going to be really interesting. They have Advocare this weekend with an easy Canisius team, followed by a dangerous game with Oklahoma St/Memphis, and then LSU/Florida St if they win both of those. Coming out of this weekend with only 1 loss would be good....

Then after that- they have the Big 5. 1st game with La Salle(0-4) should be good- but then after that 4-0 Temple, 3-2 St Joes', and 4-1 Penn are next- followed by a date at Kansas. Then at MSG vs UConn....

It doesn't seem right typing it, but Nova entering conference play with 4-6 losses seems at least within the realm of possibility.

What I think might happen- after that Uconn game, they get a good 10 days off before starting conference play. That might be when we see them take their jump.....

This thread was created after the "worst day in our conference's 40 year history", where Nova, Marquette and SHU all got blown out. We didn't have any ranked teams.

I have a feeling that all 3 schools (if Hall makes it) will be given higher seeds relative to their NET. It's clear now that the first months for them were flukes. No way they replay some of those teams today and have the same results.

Glad that Nova and Marquette were really able to turn it around, because after our 3-4 start I'd be embarrassed for the league if St. John's were the headliner heading into conference play. It'd be a long couple months with zero ranked teams.
