Wow, Hell of a weekend for the league with the 3 bubble teams winning. The most likely result was going 1-2, given that St. John's and Seton Hall were underdogs by 4/5+ points.

I was at MSG and legit almost left during the first half. Can't believe we won that game... still in shock.

What a great win, down 19 I was thinking "game over", then they started coming back alittle, and I'm saying cut it to 10 and half. Well Simon 3/4 court shot was good, and they cut it to 11. I'm thinking ok now this is doable, but not getting to confident.
The last 12minutes + was awesome. LJ went off too. 22,12, with 4 steals.

Oh yeah, and we took 3 of 4 from Marquette, Nova :-)

I know the talk here is SJU - and rightfully so - that was the program's biggest win in years (I put over the the Nova and Duke wins from last year since this one was actually meaningful, rather than late season consolation).

But can we take a minute to think about what Myles Powell could do if he ever decided to turn it on before the last 5 minutes??

For sure, the guy is a closer - he's made a habit this year of catching fire in the last 5 minutes or so and stealing games that SHU didn't really deserve to that point. It's great theater, but some more consistency probably would've gotten the Pirates a few more wins and certainly would've spared the fan base some near heart-attacks.

This game obviously wasn't the most extreme example of an all Myles Powell finish, but he did step up and hit the key shot solo.

Creighton has had unbelievably bad luck, but at least they are helping the league out. They had a very solid NET rating OOC (still do- #63), and their records vs potential NCAA teams:

Vs Marquette: 0-2
Vs VIllanova: 0-1
Vs St. John's: 0-2
Vs Seton Hall: 0-2
Vs Butler: 1-1

Overall: 1-8

Compare that to a team like DePaul, who both sucked OOC and then beat teams like St. John's and Seton Hall in conference.

I get it, it sucked last year how St. John's went 11-2 during a very tough OOC (including beating Duke), and then went 4-14 in conference. But if you're going to suck in conference, this is the way to do it. Jays will be back competing for a bid next year.

Kenpom's luck rating has Creighton 324th out of 353. Yeah, some of it is self-inflicted, but Creighton's had tough luck even before factoring in injuries.

Meh I think if they bring back McDermott he will be on a very hot seat and they will struggle again. I think they should fire him and start over personally.

Agreed. Mac has plateaued and is "Road"-retired on active (coaching) duty. Still has a year on his original 10 yr contract, plus 1 or 2 year extension. Now is a good time to cancel the extension and "retire" him for real.

After 9 years you'd think the AD would get it. But all is comfy cozy on the Hilltop. Maybe the new Prez has a different opinion, but the AD won't willingly fire Mac. Most fans are giving him his extension years. Who knows when the AD will retire. He (Mac) should have been gone after last year, too bad he didn't take the OSU job. That would've required work though.

Six years and no BE championships, no BETs, no ncaa runs. Creighton deserves better than this. It has to be said: roughly 90% of the fanbase is still happy (make a few dances, get 20 Ws most years), doin' what we did in the MVC. Most of that 90% are pessimistic realists and feel we wouldn't be able to secure a better coach (fear factor). Several of us are on record that his record ain't good enough and we need to upgrade the HC. Money talks and BS walks. Plenty of excellent coaches to be had for 2.5-4 mill; and Pitino for 5-7 mill. Creighton can afford Pitino.

Glad we're able to help our brethren with all these Q1 wins...just doin' our part for the conference. Nova 0-2. Marquette 0-1. gotta feelin' we ain't done donating W's yet...

13-18 reg season...a new low (post Rick Johnson era). Win the BET and set a new record for shit teams making the dance...@17-18. Yeah right!

"Mac has plateaued and is "Road"-retired on active (coaching) duty." -You had me at R.O.A.D. GTMO, had me at ROAD... Might be time?

I spent a whole month playing that role after 20 years... I had to try hard to show up and had people asking me why I did. I would reply to sign off the damn paperwork, I'd sign it off, head to the Chiefs club to have lunch, and if they didn't call me by 2 have a beer or 5. (USMC, but retired on a Navy base and replacements were there, just had to check up on them.) ;)

Scariest part about being a Jays fan right now is that 90 percent gtmo is talking about. I can already hear CU fans in 2 yrs saying "I told you so" or "I never lost faith in Mac" after finishing 5th and 4th in the BE and splitting a pair of NCAA 7/10 games before losing by double digits to the 15 seed.
