Definitely weird. It’ll be much stronger next year. I’m looking at Georgetown to be a potential powerhouse next season

Don't see Georgetown taking a massive step to powerhouse unless Howard and Ponds leave and Villanova's two five stars produce to the same meh level Quinerly has.

The pre-season expectation among SHU fans was to make the NIT and everyone else pretty much expected them to be borderline incompetent, so put in perspective, the fact that we're even having this conversation is a positive. That said, expectations were raised by the Kentucky and Maryland wins, and conference play so far has been a massive disappoinment compared to those new expectations.

It's not over yet and normally I'd say the benefit of a tough remaining schedule is the opportunity for statement wins, but that this point it appears the Hall is more in need of win quantity than win quality. Hopefully they find a way.

Well Ponds is definitely leaving. So there’s one part of it. And even if MU and Nova are strong next year I still think GTown can be right up there with them

What a horrible night for the Big East. Every game went against the conference. It is what it is

Why is SJU so inconsistent? What the heck is wrong with Seton Hall?

With Seton Hall, Xavier matches up better with them than just about any team in the conference and also recently Xavier has remembered how to play basketball again.

I feel like Creighton is that thing in the basement that reaches up to catch the ankle of the last guy on the stairs as everyone is scrambling to safety and pulls him down into the cellar. Sorry about that DePaul - though not sorry, really. Hopefully, we can catch G'Town feeling a little too good about itself Saturday, spend the following week off for Mac and company to devise a brilliant game plan to maybe hold Howard to 40 points the following weekend, followed by a couple of home games against our current fellow cellar dwellers to end this season on an unprecedented 5 game winning streak to reach 9-9, avoid Wednesday night at the BET and find our way into the NIT for a few extra games.

so lets assume for the sake of the argument Xavier wins out (could very well happen btw, they will destroy the johnnies down low, i am very afraid).

17-13 (10-8). Throw in a win in the BET. 18-14. Is that enough to get them into the conversation or too many losses? Stever you there?

That would be interesting. X would have 10 or so Q1&Q2 wins. Many more top Kenpom wins than most bubble teams. Kind of subpar OOC scheduling. The bubble being extremely weak they would be in the mix but I am not sure in.

That being said, highly unlikely X runs through Villanova, STJ twice and Butler without a loss.

I think 3-1 down the stretch and making the BET final is slightly more likely. Not sure if either scenario results in a bid, but we would be close.

if they win out they are actually 18-13. 10-8 in the Big East....

They would have the Seton Hall win as a definite Q1 win. providence is Q1 right now, but they are 74. Very iffy.... add to that- @ St John's and @ Butler for sure as Q1 wins, and maybe Nova as a Q1 win(they're #27 right now- so no lock) and they could have as many as 5 Q1 wins prior to the BET.

I think a lot would hinge on where they are in the BET and who they play 1st. If they're playing a team like Butler, Seton Hall, St John's- and get a win there, I think they're probably in.

It would be so fitting in this batshit crazy season if Xavier did just this.
