Villanova being led by Jermaine Samuels?

This is flat out a great game.

Was it some kid named Shazeer(so) that lead UCONN to a national championship after they had to play their way into the tournament through BET championship?

The reason I am asking the question is because I hope Marcus Howard has an opportunity to take Marquette all the way to the final four and then see what happens from there.

In the meantime, 51 all on the Maineline.

Shabazz Napier.

As for this game. Jeez Marquette can’t buy a defensive rebound.

Here is where I disagree with you. I think if Georgetown was Q1 end of the year, and Seton Hall beats them- that may be enough to get Seton Hall into the tourney.... That'd be 4 Q1 wins at that point.

And I totally disagree with FormulaX. The quad wins are very important now. Come selection Sunday all you hear is team x has 5 Q1 wins. that's why they're in and team y with 3 Q1 wins is out.

So you think is SHU gets a Q1 win at Georgetown then loses its last 2 and goes 1 and done in the BET it could be enough? I wish I could be that optimistic. I think if Seton Hall wins 2 of it's next 4 games (3 reg season + 1 BET) there's a chance, 3+ is a lock, less than 2 is out.

Yes, with how putrid the bubble is, I think if Seton Hall enters selection Sunday even at 17-14 but with 4 Q1 wins, I think they have a really good shot at making it. I think results like tonight Texas losing to Baylor help that out a lot.

Good game; my observations...

1. Phil B and Eric P are exhausted. Jay needs to alleviate their load or it’ll be a short lived March for Nova.
2. Jay W called MU a potential F4 team. I agree but only if two things happen IMO. One, Sam H looks for his shot more and Theo John stops with his stupid and unnecessary fouling. He doesn’t help his team being on the bench watching.
3. While I wouldn’t be surprised if someone unexpectedly stole a bid by winning the BET, a Saturday night rubber match in NYC would be a fantastic way to cap the BE season. The first 2 games have not disappointed.
4. Unless the 2 Nova Sr’s can get their mojo back, Marq will clearly be the conference’s best candidate to make a run in he tourney. I hope they can handle the high expectations and pressure to represent the conference. It’s not always easy—just ask Nova and X (as high seeds who have lost early).

5. What a great job Ewing has done at G’town this year.
Go Nova!

He'll declare and won't hire an agent so that he can return when he's unstaffed or pull his name when it's late second round talk

At this point, this is the only correctable issue for this flawed team imo. I still get nightmares of Foye or Hart completely worn down by season's end.

Very entertaining game. While a disappointing result for MU, the team was playing with house money last night. The likelihood of both teams playing in the BET Championship is strong, and beating any team (especially defending national champions) three times is an incredibly tall order. The turnovers killed us in the first half, and the lack of rebounding killed us in the second half. Only scoring one point in the final five minutes wasn't positive either. I believe the back-breaker was the travel call on Anim. When Howard came in after his 4th foul, he was dreadful; didn't make a single FG, missed a FT, and had two TOs in limited time. However, the takeaway is that if MU still had a chance to beat Nova (who needed Samuels to have career night), then they will undoubtedly be alright.

Biggest goals for the team are to get Sam going earlier and more consistently, train John to stop trying to swat every shot in the paint back to Minnesota and to get Howard to play more under control. I have actually been encouraged by Chartouny in recent weeks, and Cain has gotten some solid runs as well. Morrow has really stepped up his game and could be an X-factor come tournament time.

Nice win, Nova. Until someone dethrones you in NYC, this conference is your's. Wright and Co. are still the class of the league.
