Finally a clutch win by Creighton, maybe we might find ourselves back on the bubble....

If creighton wins these last two home games, they finish 9-9. Wonder how close they could be to the field if that happens

The team, while full of talent and one of the best players in the country in Ponds, is remarkably inconsistent. Every time the team encounters adversity, it seems like they go full-on hero/isolation ball, and naturally takes bad/contested shots against teams that make adjustments.

After this season, the team will likely lose Ponds (Draft) and Clark. Everyone else comes back, but St. John's, at the moment, has the 10th ranked Big East recruiting class (according to 247). It appears they will look hard to the transfer market again to stock the roster, which is hardly a formula towards building a sustainable, competitive basketball program.

Which are all reasons why Mullin has to step aside gracefully. He is not a HC, rather a figurehead who is lost on the sideline with a staff that is even more clueless. He will never build sustainable success at SJU especially if he couldn't even take advantage of a weak, down league this year. He'll never get it done.

We've seen the "hire the superstar alum to coach" strategy before. Please call me the first time it works. It excites a bunch of old fart alums, but recruits don't care about some old guy they think was present when Naismith nailed up the peach baskets.

I mean, it might be working at Georgetown, but we need more time to see. I do remember questioning the Mullin hire and calling it a high-risk-high-reward move, and then a bunch of St. John's fans jumped down my throat. Nothing in Mullin's time there has disproven the "high risk" part.

Important to note that Ewing was a coach in the NBA. Maybe not a head coach but he had experience.

They have a neutral court Tier 1 win over Clemson, a Bubble team, and a strong nonconference SOS. Pair that with some Tier 1 wins in conference and only two borderline Tier 3 losses. That's a solid resume for the Bubble.

Yep. It makes a big difference in terms of known quantities.

Exactly! Patrick paid his dues as a coach, Mullin, not so much.

Time to move on. Can the Johnnies do it right for once and get a real college coach who's earning his stripes like Nate Oats? Get it done Cragg.

they would have 3 tier 1 wins assuming Georgetown can remain. They looking real quickly have 0 tier 3 losses- worst one is home loss to #63 Seton Hall. they are 15-13. they really need to win both this week- a loss to either Providence or DePaul would be their worst by far this season.

They probably need both this week and then probably need 1 in the BET to get to 18-14. That should get them in.

Mullin isn’t getting fired. Unless he steps down he will be the coach next season
