unreal to say this but it's better for the league if Xavier wins this game... look at the nitty gritty for these 2 teams

NET X 70 B 59
Rec X 16-13 B 15-14
Road X 4-6 B 2-8
Q1 X 3-8 B 2-9
Q2 X 6-2 B 5-4
Q3 X 1-3 B 5-1
Q4 X 6-0 B 3-0
SOS X 44 B 19
OOC SOS X 145 B 70

this game would be a road game for X and a Q1 game for them. Would be a Q2 game for Butler

Xavier with all the other stuff has a lot better shot to make the tourney over Butler right now.

of course, the way this season has gone for the league, Butler will win and knock Xavier pretty much out.

Big game for X. Is it big for Butler?

Interesting question. It seems their tourney hopes are seriously whaning. But this is always a big game and I expect their best effort.

To channel my inner Stever, a Butler win would be devastating to the Big East. Might as well pack it in and auction off our teams to the AAC, CUSA, MWC, MVC and other assorted mid-major conferences. (oh wait, did I say AAC?) :P

Really need Butler to win this game to help out my Hoyas in the standings and for positioning for the NCAA tournament.

looking at things, not sure that I agree with you.... With the current standings...

Xavier winning- Georgetown would be 4th, set to play St John's in 1st round of BET.
Butler winning- Georgetown would be 3rd, set to play Seton Hall in 1st round of BET.

While yes, the standing would be better for Butler winning, I think for in terms of making the tourney, it'd be better to be 4th and play St John's. That's a Q1 game away. Seton Hall would only be a Q2 game neutral site. St John's would probably be a win and in type of situation. Not as sure with Seton Hall.

Thanks Butler!

Hoyas need to take care of business, but the path to a sole 3rd place finish is now there.

With the way the league is and the bubble in general, 3rd place (solely) might be the difference when trying to choose between several BE teams on the bubble. I mean double round robin don't lie. If G'town can claw their way to 10-8 and everyone around them is 9-9, 8-10 it's got to make some impression on the committee, no? I just can't see any scenario where a top 5 conference only gets 2 bids. I think we get a 3rd just out of respect. And who knows if a couple of teams can make runs in the BET. Maybe we steal a bid this year from other conferences.
