Loss is totally on us and refs were fair, but one thing that really pisses me off is Marquette hoisting 3's up 30+ with 3 minutes or under. Very ballsy and classless. It's the college hoops equivalent of being up 10 runs in the 9th and watching a homer then flipping your bat staring down the pitcher. We blew DePaul out but we did the right thing in running clock instead.

So, would you like Marquette to not shoot with all its bench players in the final 4 minutes and have shot clock run out.

Maybe there was a plus to johnnies getting relegated to Wednesday night

I'm sure that helped. Two years ago it wasn't sold out when Georgetown played St. John's. The league is just beating that stereotype from ESPN of 7 years ago that the league is dead.

Obviously you still have to shoot but not necessary to take 3's. Same way it's disrespectful to try and score TD's in the final minutes of an NFL game up 40. Go for the FG if you're in position. If we played the same game you guys did and things were reversed, we'd probably make sure it got to no more than a 25 pt win. You can watch your homeruns if you want, but you can get beaned for that especially up 10 runs in the 9th.

There was plenty to be upset about last night, but the end of the bench guys launching 3's wasn't one of them. As a fan, I'm happy for those guys from either team, that finally get a chance to shoot, especially when they make one. Who cares whether we lose by 34 or 37? I'm glad they shot and got the lifelong memory of drilling a 3 at MSG in the BET. What is disturbing is a team that rolls over and plays dead at the first sign of adversity, and has players that "checked out" a long time ago. But that's a discussion for another day.

Really shocked at how uninterested SJU looked last night especially at home against a team they had beaten twice already. They might get an NCAA bid, but I would be hard pressed to argue they deserve one.

The Johnnies are taking a lot of flack today from everyone. NY, nationally, college hoops fans, media and so on. I can't say I disagree one bit as they really do look like a team that does not deserve an at-large invite. This team looks to have regressed as the season went on. The coaching, or lack thereof, is the big elephant in the room. Let's see what happens in the coming weeks.

One thing I will say about the Johnnies if they still get in (and I think they will) - I don't want to be their first opponent. For some reason, just a big basketball game doesn't seem to motivate them - but when they have something else motivating them (such as losing on a bad call or in embarrassing fashion) they tend to turn into a freight train.

Examples:
Lose to SHU on bad call - steamroll Marquette, monster first half in SHU rematch
Lose at home to DePaul - steamroll Creighton
Get their doors blown off by Duke - win @Marquette
Get their doors blown off by PC - jump out to a 20-7 lead on Butler (and go on to win)
Get their doors blown off by PC again - jump out to a 28-7 lead on Seton Hall (and go on to win)

The down side is that's probably too many examples of needing a big rebound, but the positive is they always get that big rebound. If they make the tournament, they'll win at least 1 game.

MullinMayhem, with all due respect, how is an 8 point win a blow out? Yes, I was at the game, you won comfortably, but far cry from a blow out. I understand your frustration but let's not carried away.

With how this season unfolded, I would not have guessed 1 v 4, 2 v 3 in the semi finals.

Should be a fun evening

Creighton did what Creighton does.
