That loss is on us, not officiating, no matter what calls were made. We missed too many opportunities to win that game.

Expecting another dog fight tonight. Good luck to both teams and, either way, we will have a great champion crowned tonight.

Thanks for the classy post Warrior. That was gonna be a tough one to swallow for whoever ended up on the short end. The refs were brutal and it was really unfair to the players and fans.

Fortunately it's not the end it MU's season and I know they'll eager to get the taste of this one out of their mouths next week. I don't envy their first round opponent.

I was at the game last night. I will say all the Villanova fans were cool. Especially, after they won. Had a few stop and gave us Xavier fans a patronizing, your coach has a great future. My buddy and I said. What would be like if our team just won 2 national titles.

My next day thoughts:

The Nova program is top-shelf: it possesses a classy fan base that knows how to handle success, and it has been blessed with a truly classy head coach with a powerful system who represents the brand extremely well.

There is nothing, and I mean nothing, like the Big East Tournament in pre-NCAAT college basketball. There can't be. The magic that New York City and MSG create for it is unparalleled. Bigger schools in bigger conferences have great conference tournaments - no doubt about it. But the STAGE for the BET is supported by entertaining, high-quality basketball. MSG was insane last night. I expect tonight to be thrilling as well.

Xavier came up short in the BET and on the year. Simply too much retooling from having a new HC find his footing to figuring out roles between the returning players and three grad transfers. Had they figured it out a little sooner in the season, we would be looking at a different bid picture for the BE, but alas. I hope they can have fun in the NIT, and I look forward to Travis Steele, et al moving forward.

Congrats to Nova and the Hall for making it to Saturday evening. May the best team win.

Beyond tonight:

1. Marquette - get your act back together; you have way too much talent (IMHO) to check out too early in the NCAAT.

2. SJU - a little bit of the same sentiment towards you, except that I feel that if you guys impose your will - your speed and athleticism on the opposition - you can make a nice little run in the big show.

3. Seton Hall - Myles, put them on your back, have fun and go nuts.

4. Nova - you need no advice; you know how it's done.

This chapter of the BE book is coming to a close, but, as usual, it's been a great read.

p.s. Georgetown will find its way into THE conversation next year. Patrick is going to deliver returns.

Thx Mel O.

Friar J, you’re entitled to your opinion. I was called out on a statement by an X fan. I reread and thought that it could have been worded better so I apologized. HLOH family with a minor disagreement.

Most Nova fans I hang with would probably agree with your statements. We know we are blessed; we know that this is the golden age of our program. We recognize that like all things it is cyclical. You can say what you want about Nova fans—there are good and bad fans in every bunch. If you’re on the Nova Benchwarmers site just know real Nova fans pay little attention to that site. The paysite Nova Nation on 247 is pretty solid. Some fools but mostly solid fans passionate about their team.

Lastly if you wish ill will towards any part of the program let it be to the fans. Because these kids have represented the University and the conference very well. They work hard; they’re clutch; and they don’t showboat or show up other teams. Those kids don’t deserve an ounce of ill will for al they’ve done for the BE IMO.

Peace.

Now on to the game! Let’s go Cats!

I hope I did not give the impression I wish any ill will on the kids on that team? I have rooted for Villanova like they were my school every year in the NCAA's as long as I can remember. I could not ever have a bad thing to say about the way those kids and the coach act on and off the court.

It is natural with so many games played against each other to develop a dislike in league play for certain players. I was none too pleased with Arcidiacono with the phantom foul on Ben Bentil in the final seconds of our semi final tussle 3 or 4 years ago. You guys always seem to get those calls.

Now for the rest of the story, my daughter attended SHU, was the President of her graduating class and got her Masters there while a GA in the Athletic Department. Stayed on a few years in the department and then moved to Philly and went to work at Nova for 2 years until she got an offer she could not refuse outside the University. My life has always been tied to the BE and I root for all schools outside conference play, always have always will.

I'm just sick of you guys winning in this league and particularly beating my school. It's not abnormal to feel that way but my post was inappropriate and I apologize.

Man, we're still playing and the solidarity is starting to come back! Down here in NC there is no rooting for the other teams in the ACC at all! (I'll even root for X up to a point this time of year, but wash my mouth out afterward!) :P

This is exactly why I love this conference so much. I am a diehard SJU alum and fan but I have an awesome circle of friends that include PC, VU and Gtown grads. It’s hard for me to ever get truly pissed at one of our own. I have a close friend who graduated from Michigan. He detests Michigan State and Ohio State and feels zero allegiance to any other Big 10 school. I live in LA and have a bunch of UCLA and USC alums on my staff. They do not give a rats a$$ about any other PAC 12 team. Once their team is toast, they are no longer interested. The Big East is so unique. I freaking love it.

I am really hoping my Johnnies hear their name called tomorrow but, either way, I will be rooting like crazy for VU, MU and SH in the tournament. Thanks everyone for another great season. I’m already looking forward to 2019-20!

Peace!!!
