Kudos to Sports Illustrated's Andy Glockner for telling it like it is. In his article yesterday on the upcoming ACC season (he actually is picking Syracuse to win), he makes the following statement when talking about whether the ACC should play their Tournament in the Garden...

" The roots of the ACC are in North Carolina, and I’d like to see the new Big East maintain its presence at the Garden. That’s where that tournament belongs."

About time someone stated the obvious.

I retired and moved to South Carolina and there are a huge amount of NC fans. While they like the influx of the great Big East tems entering the ACC they are still a team from the south. They may want to venture up to the big city for maybe one year or at the most 2, they want to keep the tourney here. The only reaons MSG keeps coming up is the Cuse alum that are in the media. The garden will be filled by the yankee schools. Don't underestimate the power that these southern fans have.

After last night, UConn should seriously consider giving up its football program. I mean, Towson!?! Really?

Then again, maybe the have already given up. :D

The ACC at the Garden is not going to happen unless the Big East wants out. The Garden wants a tenant every year and does not want to be part of a rotation among other venues. Next, Syracuse absolutely travels well to the Garden for games - but New York City is hardly a Syracuse town. The NY papers give them far less coverage than NYC schools and the Big East has been getting a ton of press while the ACC has gotten zero except for their field trip on July 1. The Big Ten would get more interest in NYC than the ACC. And most ACC fans do not want to come to NYC anyway.

Excellent point. It's basic, I don't know why it's so hard for some people to understand this.

Every story about the ACC and the garden originate from ESPN. EVERYONE
I predict that this subject will be brought up 3-4 more times before next spring by ESPN. The story is always the same just with a different headline, and it is just ESPN trying to get what it wants.
I hav'nt gone to the BE tourn in about 10 years, but i will be there this year and in the future to support the BE and keep the ACC and ESPN where they belong, at Denny's!!!

The ACC has been all bluster and then falls on its face.
- MSG is staying with us.
- Syracuse was going to open up the whole Carrier Dome vs Duke, then abandoned the idea.
- Their Big Monday on ESPN is full of very average matchups.
- Their football is awful.
They like to break the things they can't have, and often their plans and the things they take turn to sh!t.
