With the BET included and getting rid of those NIT/CBI home games, the BE was probably ahead of the Big12 last season. I mean DePaul went from 6000+ (granted new arena) to 3800 with a better team. 2018 numbers show difference of only 5 attendees per game between the 2 conferences. We've gained quite a bit on them since 2014, but the biggest gain has been the conference tournament, going from 5th to comfortably 1st. You can check out the numbers going back to 1976.

Reading the trend, I expect 4th in 2020, and 3rd in 2021 with Connecticut on board. A competitive SJU with increased MSG games should boost the numbers considerably. For Nova, I don't sense any urgency to play more than 5 games at the WFC. But with the 20 game schedule + 2 conference challenges, a reduced Big5 load can result in an extra home game to pad total attendance.

This makes sense now why we're at less than 100%. We were over 100% on the regular season and then had 6000 or so for the NIT game. That's honestly pretty good for an NIT game, but seriously brings down the average
The other thing about all of our NIT teams is that they all were high seeds and everyone hosted their game I believe. And DePaul ended up hosting like 5 CBI games. That had to kill their average. Methinks if you were to take strictly regular season data, the big east would be where we normally are. Maybe even better with an improved St. John's.
