UConn AAC H/H questions

I was wondering how these H/H agreements work? Is it just 8 games total from a combination of mens/womens games? would 4 AAC schools be scheduled one year then the return game the next year? or would the AAC schools be spread out over several years possible 1 game a year over 16 years? If just 8 games total then they can give 2 games to the women for USF and then need just 6 game (3 schools) for the men?

Were there any scheduling agreements with the AAC, A10 or MVC in 2013 ?

It is four home/home series, men's or women's, as it pays off its fees (so, by 2026 at the latest. According to some USF fans, one of the matchups is for women's basketball - since USF has regularly been the 2nd best women's team in the AAC. So, that would mean that the men's team either gets three home/home sets with the AAC (with the women one), or the men get two (and the women get two). I could see it going either way.

Regardless, UConn would likely only play one AAC team per year as part of the arrangement. So, if it is three opponents for the men's, it would take six years to complete (and if it is two, then it would be completed in four). I would highly doubt that Aresco would arrange any of the bottom feeder/cellar-dwellers for the arrangement; thus, I would imagine the pool of teams would include Cincinnati, Houston, Memphis, Wichita State. Additionally, since UConn has had a conference team located in Florida every season since the 90's, I wouldn't be surprised if UConn actually pushed for either UCF/USF.

Supposedly USF on the women's side will be one of the series on the women's side. One of the local writers is also saying that it's likely the men will extend things with Memphis after UConn leaves, so that's two there. I'd honestly be surprised if Cincy isn't the third team. Series number four can really be anyone decent and I wouldn't complain, because there really are some fine programs in the conference.

What I don't believe the agreement entails, though, is the AAC office being able to assign certain matchups to UConn. It's still on individual athletic directors to work out independent agreements.

That was my concern...thought AAC would throw ECU and the rest of the bottom dwellers at them.

Bogg is right. This is really about Uconn's AD reaching out to other ADs in the conference to set this up. The women will play USF, and my understanding is the Memphis series for the men will begin next year. My guess is they will also play Cincinnati in a separate agreement after the Memphis series.

Also wouldn't surprise me if the men play a 3rd series if they reach out to Temple. Easy travel, and could be tied into a football agreement as well.

What's great for Uconn now is we don't have to kill ourselves scheduling OOC anymore now that we are in a solid league. In the American, Uconn loaded up their November/December schedule. With a young team, that is difficult to do.

Having a 20 game conference schedule, a potential Gavitt Game against a Big Ten team, a Big 12 challenge game...there is 22 solid (Q1/Q2) games before you even have to schedule someone yourself. That is quite the difference from playing the Tulane's and East Carolina's of the world who hurt your numbers even if you beat them.

Uconn will be at Florida next year, so I am guessing they will push Memphis to come to Hartford/Storrs next year. On FOX!

Question...do you think the Big East will do what the Big Ten did last year and play the 2 "additional" conference games in mid to late November in 2020-2021?

This is a real opportunity for UConn to further reduce its travel expenses.

The Queen City Huskie Special is established to allow UConn to come to town for a 4-day trip. After UConn loses to Xavier at the Cintas Center on a Saturday afternoon during a game televised by big Fox, it rests up, "enjoys" some Skyline Chili and other legitimate Cincinnati attractions over the weekend, and then pummels the Bearkittens on a Monday night at 5th/3rd with 3,500 people watching it on their laptops.

Now Dash, play nice with the Bearcats! I grew up watching the Big O and 2 Bearcat National Championship teams -- lots of memories there, and I just can't hate the Cats like so many X fans love to do. I love the Shootout, love what the rivalry has done for hoops in Cincy. Remember the year UC was undefeated and ranked #1 and we beat them, or the year we came from 7 down in the last minute to win in Old Fifth third arena? I want MORE of those memories too!

Anyway, I suspect that Cronin's departure will hurt their program sooner rather than later, which will be a shame for the rivalry. Maybe UConn should visit Cincinnati and lose twice, including a squeaker at the Shoe after we clobber them.

thanks for the answers. if it's USF women and men's Memphis, Cinci and Temple and a $6 million out of pocket exit fee, then I think UConn made out pretty well.
