The #18 recruiting class is the #3 loser? Interesting.

UConn's struggles since 2016 have been two fold IMO. One was Kevin Ollie and his lack of development with talented players, and then his lack of recruiting. Top 100 players were transferring left and right, and Ollie didn't show the ability to get the most out of his players. Hence why he was fired.

Secondly have been injuries. In 2017, Uconn lost Alterique Gilbert (HS All American PG) for the year 2 games into the season, and the next game lost Terry Larrier (5 star transfer) a game later for the season. In 2018, Gilbert once again only played 5 games before being lost for the year. It's tough to sustain injuries in college basketball as you can't add guys to the bench.

The 2018-2019 team I think would have been an NIT team if Gilbert didn't miss time for the shoulder/concussion and if Jalen Adams didn't hurt his knee halfway through the year.

In terms of this upcoming season...I would put Uconn behind Villanova, Xavier, Seton Hall, Creighton and Georgetown. I think they are in the group of Providence, Marquette and Butler. I think if they can stay healthy, and their freshman play well they can be a borderline tournament team this year. I expect big things out of Josh Carlton this year, Alterique Gilbert finally has had a full offseason to get better, and the freshman should have a big impact.

2020-2021 is the year Uconn fans hope we really turn the corner. We only have 1 senior this year (Christian Vital) and we gain back a scholarship we lost as part of our self-imposed penalties with the NCAA. If Uconn can add another solid recruiting class to the nucleus of Top 150 freshman in Akok, Bouknight, Gaffney and Springs along with stud transfer RJ Cole, Top 100 wing Sid Wilson, and seniors Carlton, Polley and Whaley...we could be a top 20 team entering our first year of the Big East.

Lol. I thought the same thing HuskyU. Hurley's first year playing in the American and he lands a great class. I get that they missed on Kofi, but I think they will get a solid big (Cliff O or Cardwell) in this upcoming class.

You should talk to MullinMayhem about that Sid Wilson kid...I hear he's a big fan lol

Now to address the thread. I think UConn would finish somewhere in the bottom 3 or 4 this year, but when they arrive next year they'll be more ready and have a chance to finish in the top half. That said, despite thinking they'd struggle in the Big East this year, I think they can legitimately challenge for the AAC title.

Tbf you guys only brought in 2 top 100 forwards so your front court recruiting kind of stunk. Only 4 4 stars in one class is weak

As to the question I think they’ll be a bubble team this year, so I’d predict somewhere in the 7-9 range for a finish similar to maybe butlers expectations

I’m not into fantasy leagues so to me where they would be this year in the Big East is pointless to me.

What I would love to see is UCONN winning the AAC and tournament on their way out.

Ever since UCONN made the announcement Steven has completely disappeared from this board. It’s great and I don’t want to jinx it but does this mean he’s a Husky fan after all? Or if he’s s fan of one of the remaining AAC teams is he too defeated to post? This is unprecedented silence from Stever

No, he just added UCONN bashing to his regular anti-Big East shtick on that other board. And didn't the Mods here put him in a chastity belt?
