Go Nova. And go buy some defense, you're gonna need it.
Luv ya, gtmo

I know it pains you to see the chamber reloaded year after year Git. But in a "down" year, Nova wins both the BE reg season and BET and wins a tourney game. Oh the horror for us fans to endure a season well below normal expectations. :D

I know a lot of people are focused on the incoming Frosh, and there is certainly a lot to be excited about, but I'm looking forward to see what some of the returning talent does. What is underestimated most about JW is how he develops good players into great players. 2-3 players are going to take big steps forward, because that is what always happens, year after year. Who's it gonna be? Saddiq B. 6'8", can shoot and play inside or out. Samuels, 6'7", same. Swider's 6'8", can stroke it. Slater 6'7" and long, mini-Bridges. Add to JRE and Dixon and yikes... One or several of these guys are going to surprise. It's a big, long team who can shoot and guard multiple positions. Going to enjoy watching Mitchy-poo and Tay-Shaawwwnn try to shoot over those long wing players.

And to be clear, is a Jays fan going to really preach to another fan base about defense?   Luv ya back.

Agree irt Samuels and Bey. Bey played well, although a bit up n down, typical for a frosh. Samuels came on strong towards the end of the season. Both on last seasons fantasy BE Team and will be again.
Yep, ol' Nova will continue to be in the mix, but tougher this season to claim the outright throne. Gonna be a great season. Jays get 'em early at home and the ret is at the WF, can't argue with that at all.
Can't wait to see my Jays as 8th in the BE coaches preseason picks...again.

PS: I've got some nerve as a Jays fan, huh. It's documented that we have the best defense (ole... ole, ole, ole) in the conference. ;) ;)

What jumps out right away is this John Willkom seems to create his predictions off of mainstream media hype and recruiting sites. Putting Gillespie and ANTOINE in the conversation is just ludicrous. He obviously is not aware of the ANTOINE injury, so his credibility is questionable. Howard yes but McEwen???? The BEast is not the MW by any stretch. Numbers will prove that Powell and McKnight are the best guard tandem in conference with Goodin and Scruggs a close second.....AND don't sleep on Akingo/McClung. Any Gillespie + ? will struggle to average 25/10.

Ranking the BEast backcourt seems like an interesting debate because the league is LOADED! Let's see if I can do it justice.

SHU- Powell, McKnight, Nelson
XU- Goodin, Scruggs, Moore, Tandy*, Bishop*
GU- Akinjo, McClung, Mosely, Allen
MU- Howard, McEwen, Elliot, Anon
CU- Alexander, Mintz, Z
BU- Baldwin, Thompson, Battle*
VU- Gillespie, Moore*, Arch*, Antoine**
PC- Duke, Pipkins, White
STJ- Heron, Williams, Rutherford
DU- Gage, Moore, Coleman-Landis

That is some hellacious backcourts with plenty of room for disagreement, especially 1 thru 7. I could have missed some possible impact freshman* but think I included the top transfers.

I will take some flak on the Hoyas at 3 but Akingo was easily the best assist guy in conference as a frosh and believe he will approach a double digit avg this year. That's just too hard to deny in this discussion.

I don’t disagree with your assessment Xuperman. Powell and Howard alone put SHU and Marq backcourts to the front of the line IMO. Baldwin @ Butler flying under the radar it seems but he’s terrific. CU, G’town and X all solid.

Re: Nova I have a tough time putting any Frosh-dominant tandem/grouping near the top b/c we just don’t know how they will adjust to the college game. We’ve been known for our guards for so long but honestly our team strength this year will be the length, versatility and talent on the wings and upfront IMO. I wouldn’t be surprised to see J Samuels play that 2G role at times (which is interesting b/c he played the 4 role for the BE in the Pan Am games). Gillespie-Samuels-Bey-Swider-JRE.
Go Nova!

I'd consider reeves a part of providence's back court. big east backcourts are loaded.

naji is technically a small forward and could be considered a backcourt player, but his rebounding ability and tendency to play the 4 for us probably makes him a frontcourt player

He's a Butler guy, but none of us seem to hate Nova very much. Only root against them when we play them.

Even that has lessened a little since your coach is a former BU student and have a BU player as an assistant coach. Might turn you guys into a respectable program after all. :P (But yeah we'll still have the hate when we play each other, or you losing helps us, or you play any team that isn't worse, or.... Never-mind it'll still be a big thing!) ;) :P :P
Lets go Dawgs!
