Disaster for Georgetown, but could be better for the league overall this year. I now expect them to tank during Big East play and for the rest of us to mostly beat them. Still have 6 OOC games to get through, though, which will likely be ugly.

I think one thing- this is where the NET is better than RPI for the Big East.....

Used to be if you had a 8-22 type of team they were a RPI bomb no matter what. Now if you beat them big, you won't slip much at all.

But yikes regardless of that, what an utter mess. Stuff that could hurt the program for years. (and no, I don't think that's any hyperbole).

So I applaud Ewing if it is anything remotely related to this.

I'm sure this will ruffle a few Husky fan feathers but... the two old school BE programs that I found myself rooting against--even more than G'town--was UConn and Syracuse. Why? Because at Syracuse it was completely fine to hit a co-ed with a toaster and play the next day, and in Storrs you could steal some laptops and Big Jim wouldn't bat an eye. What I like about our current conference iteration is that these are program and schools that don't (seem to) act that way. Now I know that Nova players haven't been angels--phone card scam, and public urination, yada, yada...(And Creighton was named in the FBI suit)... But for the most part we have 10 now and hopefully 11 next year that run clean programs.

Good for you Patrick Ewing. The program is bigger than the player(s).

One student stealing laptops is slightly different than multiple students committing sexual assault, but ok....

Where did I say they were the same? I was simply stating that the former coach of UConn, like the current coach of Syracuse, seemed to value winning over program integrity. And for that reason I rooted against both. Big Jim is gone, things seem to be on the up and up with the new regime in Storrs, so all is good. The end. :D

Seems like the allegations are against Leblanc and 2 others not named Akinjo. I wonder if there is any link to Akinjo or if there is a separate reason cause it sounds like Ewing dismissed him as well.

There is definitely something odd about these early details. The GU official statement is that LeBlanc and Akinjo are gone, but no mention of Alexander and Gardner even though both have been accused (along with LeBlanc) of crimes. It seems that these 3 are partners in the alleged. JL is going to be sorely missed but the other 2 not so much. Now Akinjo on the other hand, yikes! I’m kinda hoping his situation is not crime related but can’t find details on him anywhere yet, but looks like he’s gone regardless.

I’m predicting that this is not a total disaster. In fact, it could strengthen team chemistry and foster a “Rocky” mentality in the locker room, but the reality results in a VERY THIN bench.

Time for Jagan Mosely to step up big time! He’s pretty much a 35 min PG now and Mac the same at the “GUN” position. Pickett is in the same boat minute wise and will be key on which way this thing goes. He has to take it up a level with more consistent production. You are rock solid at the 5...possibly the best in conference. Wahab is impressive and will only get better (can he play some 4?). Allen will be asked to step up and perform like a Senior...Blair just has to off his ass, get out of his “fog” and start looking like a high D1 player.

Keep the foul situation under control and get a grip on the ridiculous TO numbers and 9 wins not out of the question.

Yeah, 9th is their ceiling. You may be asking the wrong question if something WAY beyond what they can do is not out of the question .

Christ, Georgetown was going to struggle to 8 WITH those guys

St. John's and Georgetown are pretty damn similar. National powers in the 80's that lose their way and become irrelevant for a long time. Of course G'Town was considered a blue blood as recently as 2008 or so and for SJ that was probably back in 1985. Really sad...with all the tradition, both programs need to find a way to be nationally relevant again. Ewing is not the answer. Anderson has been solid so far in a rebuilding year for us so we will see.

Glad to know you're tracking me so closely. To be accurate I grew up a PSU fan for college FB. I'm not really a big college FB fan overall but, OK whatever. Regarding everything that came out with PSU, Sandusky and Paterno I can accurately state that I think those two, along with PSU in every way, treated the situation abhorrently. I'm glad I'm not an Alum because I would be ashamed if I were. So there's that...
