The top flaw is at point guard.
Getting Pipkins was a good move at the time. We didn't need a superstar-- just needed someone in his 5th year to competently run the offense. Do no harm, don't make mistakes, and avoid unforced errors. Get Reeves open looks, allow Duke to play off-ball. Anything extra he provided would be a bonus.
But wow, i can understand now how UMass went 15-18, 13-20, and 11-21 the last 3 years. Just a lot of head-scratching plays, wrak defense, poor decision making.
White, a senior, is our second PG, and plays well in short spurts. Kind of a Vinny Johnson type, who can come in a drill a couple of threes, then sit for a while. But he's now forced to play extended minutes, cuz Pipkins has struggled.
Our third PG is Duke. At this point i think i'd rather have him run things.
MAL (Ashton Langford) was a local top-40 recruit, who was expected to run the point as a soph, junior (this year), and senior. He really really struggled last year. He was horrible. Couldn't shoot nor play defense, etc. Pipkins is playing now like MAL did last year.
Anyhoo, Pipkins was a one-year stopgap until Jared Bynum of St Joe's becomes eligible next year for his sophomore year (so 3 years of Bynum).
So again, this was the plan:
2016: Dunn, Cartwright soph.
2017: Cartwright junior.
2018: Cartwright senior, Ashton Langford frosh.
2019: Ashton Langford soph.
2020: Ashton Langford junior.
2021: Ashton Langford senior, Bynum soph.
2022: Bynum junior.
2023: Bynum senior...
Anyway, that's enough for now. I'm going to continue binge watching "Catastrophe" with my wife.

even to the extent that point guard play is a problem, you should not be this bad
