It's a bad idea when they're *that* bad like Cleveland State is (Kenpom 320). The Committee would be more forgiving of a road loss over a better mid-major and would give some credit to a team that won such a game

That's true. Some of the recent St. Mary's teams or VCU wouldn't be disastrous to give a game to (Hall did it with SLU, which is maybe a little borderline but probably ok). So yeah, just not those bottom of the barrel teams.

Part of it is the challenge with Big 12. I don't like the timing.

Early December Big East starting next year will have 2 conference games to play. Then you have exams with very few tough games. It almost has to be right there before the holidays.
