Close down the stretch but DePaul pulls it out. That's why it's ill-advised to give mid-majors a home game. Their players and fans will get up for it.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

can anyone explain to me why there are so many brutal games left here? Got 16 D1 games left after tonight OOC and 9 of them are vs Ken Pom A and b games.... And Northwestern vs DePaul.... I never remember such a backloaded end to the schedule. Normally it's like what Marquette or Georgetown has- 2-3 cupcakes to get ready.....

It's a bad idea when they're *that* bad like Cleveland State is (Kenpom 320). The Committee would be more forgiving of a road loss over a better mid-major and would give some credit to a team that won such a game

That's true. Some of the recent St. Mary's teams or VCU wouldn't be disastrous to give a game to (Hall did it with SLU, which is maybe a little borderline but probably ok). So yeah, just not those bottom of the barrel teams.

Yep. SLU comes in 96 in Kenpom. A loss at home to them would be bad (Quad 3) but one on the road would be forgivable (Quad 2). Essentially, you want the mid-major to be somewhere between 75 and 125 if you want a very winnable road game that doesn't hurt too bad to lose.

Part of it is the challenge with Big 12. I don't like the timing.

And with that, the Johnnies' OOC is officially a success! 10-2 with 9 of the wins by 10+ points and the other against #12 NET WVU. NET should be in the low 60's tomorrow. We could lose to #16 Arizona by 50 and I'd still be very happy with our OOC resume.

yeah think you're probably right there. But not sure when else the timing could be- in November Big East has the Gavitt games and you have all those exempt tournaments... Early December Big East starting next year will have 2 conference games to play. Then you have exams with very few tough games. It almost has to be right there before the holidays.

With 18 game conference schedule, I'd rather do it in Jan or Feb (B12 does it with SEC), but yeah I don't know with 20 game schedule.
