Probably should lighten up a bit. Pomeroy ranks St Johns dead last - ranking them 8th is not disrespectful.

I understand its hard to hear for people that only live in the bubble of their own team, but the reality is that in a conference with 70% in the Top 50 with 40% in the Top 25, nationally, some teams that you consider 'good' are going to finish 8th, 9th, and 10th.

And for the record, St John's 82nd rank is respectable. The fact that nine others in the conference rank ahead of it doesn't detract from that. It's why the Big East is going to get eight teams in the NCAA Tournament.

I see a lot of people citing the KenPom number- including AP members- but it's not an accurate number yet. At this point in the season it still has a lot of the pre-season expectations built in. Maybe you're unaware, but in late December we shouldn't be using anything besides actual results (such as NET).

Just look at how 7-6 Providence is ranked #79... ahead of #82 St. John's. There's no logic behind that whatsoever, except for the fact that KenPom was very high on Providence pre-season and low on St. John's. Now they're getting closer together, but it's still very inaccurate.

I actually agree that it's perfectly fine putting the Johnnies #8 or even potentially 9 or 10 given how strong the league is, but KenPom shouldn't be used. We are #49 in NET (and Providence is #129), which is a much better indicator.

I've said this before so hopefully nobody gets offended, but BE regular season standing is meaningless from 3rd place down in most seasons. Who gives a f--- if your team finished 3rd but it's only like 1 game ahead of the 8th?

Shouldn't be meaningless this year though. Looking like 9 conference wins punches a ticket for everyone but PC....but hey, a group at 9-9 could be 3rd!

I wouldn't change my stance if Nova finished 3rd tied with 2 teams and ahead of 8th place team by a game. Wait, you just wanted to remind me about that season we finished 2nd. No worries I think very highly of Xavier finishing ahead of perhaps once-in-a-lifetime Nova team.
