Butler is good, but I have a really hard time believing they are a Top 6 team or a one seed in the NCAA.

Rest of the season could certainly go differently, but they are absolutely worthy of their accolades right now. Computers agree too.

Yeah this attitude is a symptom of the ESPN top 10 / social media world we live in. You can’t put smothering defense on a highlight reel. So we celebrate teams and players who can connect on an alley-oop or a player who can break ankles. But Butler just squeezes you into submission. And from a resume’ standpoint I actually don’t think there are 5 better out there.
They are every bit a top 6 team based in on court performance. You want flashy, but often ineffective players—go watch the Pac12 or SEC.

Can’t expect Creighton fans to know what a real number 1 seed looks like... spent too much of their time losing during the first weekend of the tournament.

Of note, I enjoyed the conspiracy theories on your board that the backboard and rim at Hinkle were rigged.

My wife and I actually went to Hinkle for the first time. Caught D Mac and the Pacers Thur night, tour Indy and dinner at St Elmos Friday night. Other than the game- great experience. Loved touring the city, campus, and fans were classy. We had the same opinion when we went to Xavier last year. Love being in the Big East !

Virginia literally just won the national championship with the format. And when I say literal - I mean literal. Butler’s mode of play that was crafted in the early to mid 90s by Barry Collier comes directly from Dick Bennett.

Defense is hard to see and isn't flashy. Sometimes it just looks like your team is just missing shots, but the constant hounding and extra struggle to get that open shot wears on players. I think Butler wears teams down with how hard they have to work to get anything and how long they have to chase them around on the other end. The numbers can lie for a game or two, but this far into the season, Butler is an elite defensive team.

That is not to say that we aren't going to lose games this year in the big East! Oh hell no! This league is too damn tough and one off night and your going to lose against any of this years teams.

In all fairness Title regularly posts on here under a different name and I have never seen anyone take issue with his posts. Further, while Title may get on people’s nerves, back in 2008 his handle was Title in 2011. And he was one of the first to see what Brad Stevens was bringing in with recruiting and say big things were coming for Butler.

Butler has elite defense, a bunch of size/depth and an absolute killer guard. The Bulldogs are legit and look every bit of a 1 or 2 seed.

Butler was great last night. Defense is suffocating, like a boa constrictor. Crowd was much larger and louder than what we were told to expect. Fun game.
