Nova will probably be favored by double digits. UConn is better than their record and could pull off the upset, but obviously that's unlikely.

The big question I have is why is this game on FS1 while the Seton Hall vs St. John's game is on Fox? Both start at noon. I'm not complaining, but seems odd.

I wonder if the Big East requested the BE only game be on Fox.. Only thing you can think of- would have thought going into season that the UConn/Nova game thought of as much higher.

Although wonder also if there is a max. number of broadcast exposures per team. Nova on CBS once and Fox 5 times.... Kind of spread it out

I never heard of Dickies, but it only holds 13,300. Some of the best MSG moments have been when they pan out to show the 20K sold out crowds going wild. Not holding my breath that Dickies will look better on TV...

Aaannnddd now I feel dumber for even bothering to type that up.

Their primary tenant is a livestock show.

And for that reason they'll probably get more **** on social media than anything else.

Seriously though, it looks like a nice venue but certainly not one that should be compared to most Power sites. That's especially true when talking it up on the message board of the #1 conference tournament. ;)

It doesn’t matter if it’s the Taj Majal. If it is 30% full for the AAC tourney games it will again look like ass.

The beauty of MSG is you have 5, soon to be 6, fan bases able to jump on a train and be there in a couple hours. Then you add in CU who travels extremely well and the fact that it is NYC, which is a tremendous place for a spouse to visit while your’re watching college hoops for 3 days.

I think it was 2015, maybe 16, Friday afternoon games of the BET. My brother and I and our wives came in and while we watched the early games, the wives shopped. Met up for dinner and then returned to MSG for the nightcap double header while they went to a Broadway show. Both were very happy with the trip. imagine trying to talk your wife into a trip to DFW. I’m sure they’d be so excited.

Your post was made in jest but Aresco actually lucked out with this arena emerging on the scene in the metroplex. Just like Jerry World, Fort Worth has been super active in scheduling college sports and high dollar musical acts at the new Dickies Arena. The venue is super impressive. It'll probably be the nicest looking venue hosting college tournaments.
The AAC should get this building on lock, imo, considering how rabid that area is for college sports.

Lol, Dickies Arena? Isn't that like the JV arena to the American Airlines Center?

LOL. There's a reason the ACC and B1G tried so hard to steal MSG. Didn't the B1G also have better TV ratings with MSG as their backdrop, even though attendance was down compared to their Midwestern venues?

Name/location/familiarity are all extremely important both for attendance and TV. The Big East hit a grand slam in every single regard.

As for the AAC, I think they were better off hosting in arenas like UConn and Memphis. At least then they could count on good attendance numbers if they advanced. As a 1 year thing Dickies seems fine but 3 years seems iffy. If SMU/Houston aren't in the finals any given year then things could get embarrassing. Even Houston is 4 hours away...

Overall, Texas is fine given their options, but with how spread out the schools are they simply didn't have many acceptable options.

It's kinda hard to call yourself "high major" when you're relegating your own tournament to a metro area's secondary arena. There's a reason the Big East plays at MSG while the mid-majors take turns at Barclays. Could you imagine the B1G playing at Allstate Arena rather the United Center? Heck, even the Missouri Valley steps up and gets into Enterprise Center rather than going to Family Arena.
