Of course the regular season. By the time any conference tournament comes around, if you’re good enough to matter, you’re already in the NCAA.

It’s largely irrelevant, made for tv event.

Maybe I'm just weird, but a game that ends with both teams being declared "champions", as well as a third team that didn't play in the game being a "champion" too, a week before you play games to determine the actual champion seems like as much of a participation trophy as there is.

Give me actual championships all day every day.

To be fair, I think the topic was pointing at an outright regular championship.

To be clear, neither of them are participation trophies

Only one of them is the actual championship, though.

In 2016, nova was a 2 seed but won the NCAA championship. In 17, they were the number 1 overall seed in the tourney but lost in the second round. By some of your logic, as a nova fan I should prefer 17. I’ll let you in on a secret....I don’t!

“ [Asked by a reporter if this is the end of Spinal Tap] Well, I don't really think that the end can be assessed as of itself as being the end because what does the end feel like? It's like saying when you try to extrapolate the end of the universe, you say, if the universe is indeed infinite, then how - what does that mean? How far is all the way, and then if it stops, what's stopping it, and what's behind what's stopping it? So, what's the end, you know, is my question to you.”

Sorry if it wasn’t clear. Was pointing out sitting a tournament is much more important than being best in reg season. Was referring to 17 being number one overall seed in the NCAA. Equivalent of a reg season conference champ on national level.
