CBS' Parrish on college hoops in a bubble. Interesting take.

I'd just like to congratulate most of the Big East schools on being way ahead of the curve when it comes to cancelling their football seasons.

The NBA and the Big East may have the best commissioners in any sport. They both have a pattern of making sensible, rational decisions. So if something is workable, i think the Big East will be in a good position.

Anyway, a Big East bubble at a neutral site could conceivably work. Really, we'd only need 1 game vs each team, and playing every other day would require only 19 days... so 3 weeks.

The 11 of us teams could bubble in a remote location... something on the idea of like Lake Placid NY... remote, with enough living space (assuming there's an old Olympic Village style space) away from town. There's probably a lot of other similar choices, but that's the first that came into my head.

Or if any remote Division-3 school cancels on-campus instruction, we could rent their space for 3 weeks and use their dorms and basketball court and dining hall... like Salve Regina down the street here hidden in the SE corner of Newport RI... something like that...

Could be: 11 teams arrive Sat Jan 2nd... practice for a week... games start Fri Jan 8th... games every other day, ending Wed Jan 27th... if it works out ok, do it again in the month of February.

I like your Lake Placid idea. Has a rather nice ring to it.

On an attempted funny note, they could pipe in Chuck Mangione theme music for the games (for you older guys).

Hah! Salve Regina(College), now University...one of the GREAT New England colleges!

"Hail Queen" or more commonly known as "Save your Vagina" College.
Turned co-ed in 1973, the year of my arrival to Newport. As a young sailor it was a great spot to fish,
along with 1st Beach.

Ahh, Newport in the '70's...and they brought back the Jazz Fest in '74. Ahh, the times we had. Intramural football and
basketball on the base-Hospital vs Marines. Eating NE Boiled Dinners (with vino) at Salas' Restaurant. Haircuts at Jason's. Chicken Lickin'.
Some weekends in Baston. Marvin & Ernie at Prov. Tennis HoF. Mediterrean Widows. Cape Verdean women. It was all good.

ahh Newport. ahh misspent youth. ahhh yes.

You are forgetting a couple of other gastro delights...(1) Bristol's Tweet Balzano's, which I believe is still in operation. Nothing says good times like pasta by the pound. (2) quahaugs on the water in Narragansett., preferably washed down with a couple of said 'gansett's.
Xavier will surprise. Never count them out of the Dance.

Honestly, do we have anyone on here tied into the TV/Movie business? If this is not the bones of a screenplay for a 2024 Netflix series I will be terribly disappointed. Not sure what "Chickien Lickin''" is but I will bet my last dollar that our man Git was the King of it.

Lol, you guys are freakin hilarious... awesome. Great run down of the old Newport scene. I'm like 10 years younger than you, so i don't remember the 70's scene, only in your legendary stories...!!!
