4 years of data under baseline. Spin that.

Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't there an issue of a booster buying players as well?

I'll correct you. You're wrong. There was no issue of a booster paying players.

Spin what? I'm not denying anything. Here are the facts:

Fact #1 - The 4 years of baseline data were in compliance when they occurred.
Fact #2 - NCAA passes a new rule.
Fact #3 - UConn is retroactively penalized for failing to meet a standard at the time the failure occurred.

How would you feel if a law were passed today and you were arrested for violating it last week?

UConn has no prior history of having athletes fail to measure up to academic standards. In fact, their record for graduating players has been quite good. And their record has been very good since the penalty was imposed.

So, how can any of this be used to imply that they have a dirty program?

What part of "banned from the NCAA Tournament" don't you understand? Vegas did get banned in 1992. There's your company.
Big East Basketball is what it's always been. Great competition nightly.
If the Atlantic 10 didn't suck, why is everyone looking for the exits?
There is a reason why the A-10 left a team in the Central Time Zone...SLU, your move.

My how snarky of you Bill!

I was thinking about what lead to this http://www.uconnhuskies.com/sports/m-ba ... 11aaa.html but i suppose I was mistaken regarding actually paying a player. Seems like more of an accumulation of minor violations.

I assume you're trying to make a point, but for the life of me I have no idea what it is.

UConn is a dirty program. That clear enough for you?

See the last few posts in this thread. The sanctions announcement was from UConn's own website.

Since what i said was taken as snarky, I apologize. I thought I was responding to precisely what had been said.

I will note that beneath all of the verbiage in the link, is the fact that the minor violations almost entirely were constituted of excessive text messages made to a specific recruit, which violated the NCAA's regulation on permissible contact with a player - a player who never played for UConn, so no benefit was obtained.

This was a classic case of legislation not having caught up with technology, as was later acknowledged by the NCAA when they changed their regulations about this kind of contact. I'm not saying that what UConn did was right, given the regulations that existed at the time, but I guarantee you that they were not the only ones doing it. It was a minor violation as reflected by the nature of the penalty and not a reflection of a dirty program. Today everyone is doing what UConn got "caught" doing 5 years ago and they are doing it with impunity. It's standard practice.

Wow! Once in school history, UConn is cited for failing to meet a new set of academic standards that were applied retroactively and they make excessive text messages, a rule that has since been revised, and that's sufficient for you to claim a dirty program? You obviously have an agenda.

I guess that puts UConn in the same company not only with UNLV but also with Yale, Cornell, and a bunch of others. Here's a sample:

Bill, I do have somewhat of an agenda. UConn fans on this site have been taking shots at SLU (of which I am a fan). So I took one back.
