You don't know much about college basketball if you think the only reason Butler got in was Brad Stevens. Butler has a traditional program, although not elite. The university has a past with DePaul, Marquette, Xavier and has a significant alumni base in Chicago, Cincinnati and New York. Don't let your jealousy of Butler getting in over SLU cloud your judgement of how much Butler fit with the other institutions in the group.

Also, you guys hijacked my threat with your whining.

Did you happen to catch any of the action when SLU and Butler actually played? That's what I think is getting lost in all this. I've also been told SLU was Catholic, private, and in a large urban area.

I've said several times that SLU should drop their program before playing another A-10 game.

So you won three games. One a blow out, another that was close, and another game where you pulled away in the end but was generally competitive. You've also only had two tournament appearances in the last decade. That's why Butler, Xavier, and Creighton were added and SLU is still in the "Dumpster Fire" (to be honest there are plenty of worse conferences than the A10).

Don't mind him. He still thinks the whole A-10 move was a mistake. The Big East picked elite basketball schools that fit their system. Nothing more, nothing less.

Dumpster just wants what's best for his school, and is passionate about their recent success. If Marquette was in the same position I would feel the same way. The next round of expansion will most likely include SLU who, aside from recent basketball success, kind of belongs with us based on fit and geography (among many other things). I do agree that there are worse places than the A10 from a competitive standpoint, but it's not a great geographical fit for SLU.
This is my opinion. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Why, because it doesn't happen? Kentucky is clean? Memphis is clean? UConn was ever clean? Get real.

You seem to like throwing out accusations. What do you mean by "UConn was ever clean?" I'd counter by saying: UConn was ever dirty?

Get real.

Bill Marsh, you are killing it in the gonzaga thread, but you are wrong here.

Calhoun was a huge scumbag. He used to recruit out of juvenile detention facilities (Caron butler) and is legendary for not disciplining thug players (Marcus Williams, Ben Gordon, etc...). He also retired once he finally got caught cheating on the recruiting trail.

John Calapari takes a lot of criticism, but Jim Calhoun is the worst over the past few decades. No doubt about it.
