Not a believer in Xavier yet. Too much of an unknown for me. I think the top 6 though of Creighton, Georgetown, Marquette, Providence, St. John's and Villanova are all very good and will all make the NCAA tournament.

I understand the doubt in Xavier. We weren't very good last year and have to prove that we can bounce back, which I believe we will. I can see X finishing anywhere from 7 to possibly making a run at 2nd or 3rd. Just shows me how deep the Big East is gonna be this year.

Not going to lie -- really shocked to see that there are a number of people picking Creighton to finish seventh this season. As a Jays homer, that is absolutely stunning! The Jays are definitely not used to being picked to finish almost at the very bottom of the conference! (I know, it's only a handful of people out of all of the people who have voted -- but, still).

Incidentally, while this season is a huge unknown to everyone, I would point out to those picking Creighton to finish seventh that most national pundits (who are certainly known to be completely off base from time to time, granted) are talking about Creighton, Georgetown, and Marquette to be battling to win the league this year. Based on what I saw last year, I think St. John's may very well deserve to be in that discussion, too.

If this poll was about the season after this coming one, I'd be thinking the Jays might be seventh. But this year? Hope I'm not coming back to this in about 6 months and saying those few people were spot on!

Providence should be in the middle of the pack, 7th is too low. It sounds like a homer, but following the team and the coaching staff- this is the year it happens. Quite frankly they likely have 3 of the top 15 players in the conference in Cotton, Batts, Dunn.

One thing I noticed is that many experts have various opinions on this league. The consensus is G-town, Marq, Creighton, Nova, and St. Johns in the top 5. Yet no one really knows the order. No one would be surprised if any of these teams finish 1st or 6th in the conference. Shows you the depth- but I am worried the teams but up on each other and it hurts tourney hopes.

I didn't vote for Creighton yet but I don't think they'll be as good as everyone thinks. Bad? No. but I don't see them winning the league

Being picked 7th is not a knock in the BE. SHU was picked 7th in 1989 and went to the championship game, UCONN finished 6th I believe 2 years ago and won the BE champ and the national title, G'Town was picked 5th or 6th preseason last year and tied for first for the BE season. Marquette every year exceeds preseason rankings. This is the way the BE was, is and hopefully will continue to be in the future.

It would be a huge disappointment if PC finishes 7th or lower based on expectations down in Providence going into this season. Then again doesn't that seem like a similar sentiment between all the members this year? The BE is so competitive that everyone believes they can compete for the top half. I do fear that only 5 max will get invites so its going to be a bitter pill for certain programs used to annual NCAA trips if they get squeezed out some years now.

This vote could be headed for a run-off between Xavier and PC if it remains tied!!
