Great point. That should get everyone in the BE excited for many reasons and it's being noticed. From Alex Kline of the RecruitScoop:

"Leon Gilmore had it down to three (Baylor & Houston others), but had to make a tough decision between three schools close to home. On Monday, the Texas native turned down the opportunity to play in-state for a chance to play in the Big East."

I think Creighton is really happy with adding LG3 and the fans are elated to have him on board. All accounts are that he is a fine young man in addition to a talented player and that is important here.
Nebraska by birth, Creighton by choice.

NBCSports.com highlights two big takeaways from the LG3 commitment:

The commitment of Gilmore, as first reported by Evan Daniels of Scout.com, is significant for the Bluejays because they’re getting a 6’7″ forward that had other high-major scholarship offers and it helps legitimize them with other high-major targets they’re recruiting.

For the Bluejays to land a high-major commitment from a player that had in-state high-major scholarship offers from schools like Texas Tech and Houston means that Creighton is doing something correct on the recruiting trail as they transition to the Big East.

Well to be fair Buzz recruits heavily in Texas probably his most active recruiting ground.

But very exciting news for Creighton.
Coach Al Mcguire:
"I like seashells and balloons, ribbons and medals, bare feet and wet grass."
"When I'm losing, they call me nuts. When I'm winning, they call me eccentric."
"Queen of victory, pray for us."

SJU got Harrison out of Texas too, but outside of Buzz, Texas is still outside the BE's typical recruiting footprint. LG3's commitment shows that maybe changing in the future with Creighton joining the party!

I had this thought today (about the expanded recruiting area.)

I'm too lazy to look at the list of top 150 BE recruits, but I'm assuming a vast majority are from the Northeast/East Coast.

Buzz was recruiting Texas, but were other programs? Has one of the unintended benefits of the new BE become a much wider recruiting base for all the programs?

LG3 is killing it out the gate averaging 20.0 ppg, 10.6 rpg, 4.5 apg, 2 stls & 1 blk for his team Manvel High (TX) which is 7-1. They just recently won the Woodlands Tournament in Texas. LG3 got MVP and mad love from Texas legend TJ Ford.
